History of StorageMart

StorageMart has been serving local self storage communities since 1974, when the founder of the company took his family on vacation and stumbled upon what would become a cornerstone to the self storage industry.

It all began during what seemed to be a ruined and rainy family vacation to Texas. The disappointment on the faces of the children in the back seat of the car soon turned to enthusiasm as their father circled around a self storage building for the third, or fourth time. Finally, they went inside and talked to the owner of the property.

Within minutes, the family knew they had struck gold and actually purchased the leasing rights to the storage facility for just 10 dollars.

As soon as their vacation was over and they returned to Columbia, Missouri, they wasted no time going to the bank and getting self storage funding for their first property.

Since that time, the founding family of StorageMart has bought and sold that original property 3 times. The company maintains ownership today, and like a framed first dollar, the property has a special place in the StorageMart community.
History of StorageMart in Canada

StorageMart began purchasing properties in Canada in the early 21st Century and began with 2 or 3 sites in Okotoks, AB and Airdrie, AB.

Today, StorageMart owns and operates over 60 properties across Canada, including storage properties in Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

The company is focused on owning and operating state-of-the-art storage facilities and serving its local communities.

All together, StorageMart has more than 130 properties in the U.S. and Canada. The mission statement of the company is to aquire, develop and operate self storage real estate properties to the capacity of producing the greatest maximization of value.

PhoneSmart is an affiliate of StorageMart and runs a self storage call center sales force, secret shopping, sales training, online marketing and consulting business.

The company has focused mainly on the self storage industry, but has served the senior apartment and assisted living communities for over 5 years. PhoneSmart is strongly recommended in the hospitality industry, health care industry and more. The company continues to become a source of quality assurance and sales expertise to these industries.

PhoneSmart serves businesses in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The company is also a strong presence in the self storage industry and promotes participation at the national and state level self storage associations.

The company director has been invited to speak at storage conventions across the globe, including Canada, the United States, Spain and the United Kingdom.
