If you are a car enthusiast or someone who rebuilds classic cars, you might be looking for a place to store your car in Calgary storage units . If this is the case, there are a few things you should know before you go look for a store house facility in which to keep your car. Before you rent a store house unit in Calgary, you will have to look at the size of units available at each of your local locations, the security at those locations, and the by-laws of the locations.

    Size Matters

In order to comfortably store a car, whether it is a summer joy-ride vehicle or a classic car you are restoring, you will need at least a garage-sized store house unit. Units in this category start at ten feet by twenty feet. This size unit will give you just enough room to pull a car in and out, but you will not have room for much more than a car. A ten foot by twenty foot unit would give you room for rebuilding tools or extra odds and ends you need to store. Call around to your local units and see what size units each facility has available you should also check on the prices of these types of units.

As you find two or three store house facilities that have the size units you are interested in available at a decent price, you should visit these facilities to see the actual units and the layout of the facility lot. You do not want to rent a unit you cannot get your car into and out of easily. The best place to store a car is on the edge of a store house lot or in between store house buildings that are far apart. Also, you will want to be sure that the door on your potential unit is wide enough to fit your car through.

    The Best Security

Next, you will also want to look at the security of the Calgary storage units you are looking at. Since your car is a valuable object, you want to be sure you are putting it somewhere it will be safe, even if you have to pay a few more dollars a month to do this. A secure lot will usually have a gate with a keypad that customers must go through in order to access the units. Be sure that your self storage prices have individual locks and that the gate for the facility is sturdy and secure. Other security factors to look for include cameras placed at frequent intervals and a manager who lives on-site.

    Follow The Rules

Finally, you will want to check out the terms and conditions of your self storage prices . Some facilities will not allow you, for example, to use your unit to work on the car you are trying to rebuild. If you want to rent an extra large unit in which to park your classic car and work on it every Saturday, you will not want to be at a place like this.

Also, if you want to store a car that you will only drive on weekends, you will want to make sure that you can park your regular car in the unit or in the regular parking on the lot. It helps to get to know your manager, as he may make some concessions for the customers he knows.
