Donnie was a huge spots guy. He loved to play sports, he loved to watch sports, and he loved to coach sports. His friends said that he spend more time on sports that anyone that they knew. Donnie loved sports, but he was having a problem with sports lately. It seemed that in his love of sports the equipment necessary to participate in these spots and activities had overtaken his house.

Yesterday he had opened his hall closet to get his baseball glove and his football fell on him when he opened the door. His car barely fit into his garage because of his bike, climbing great, and a myriad of other sports related items. He loved sports but he also wanted his house to be relaxing and did not want to worry about opening a door and having an avalanche of sports stuff falling on him.

So Donnie decided that if his home was being overrun with sports equipment he was going to have to find a place that he could keep it all and reclaim his spaces for himself. He decided to look at the different Milliken, Ontario self storage options that were available to him.

A little research and asking around led him to a Milliken self storage unit that was not far from his house. It had a good price point, security measures in place to protect his favorite surf board, and one of his hockey friends said that he had rented there before and they were really helpful. Once Donnie had signed up for a space that was just right for him he began to clear his house of all of the equipment that he had lying around.

Inside the Milliken storage unit he put up a few shelves and a boxed net to hold all of his sports balls. Everything was taken out of the hall closet and now Donnie could open the door without fear of being hit in the head. The garage was cleared out and now Donnie had no trouble getting his car to fit into the garage without fear that his climbing equipment was going to end up puncturing his tire one day if he did not see that it was on the ground.

When everything was moved out and organized within his Milliken storage unit Donnie could not believe that he had not done it sooner. He was also amazed at all of the stuff that he had once it was all moved into his storage unit. He honestly did not know that he had that much stuff. His home was clean and clutter free and all of his equipment was in one location now and it was all organized and ready for his next adventure, and now that he had the space he was even looking into some of the sports and activities that he currently did not do. Some of theme were a little extreme and did not require additional equipment, but life for him was about taking some chances and finding the next adrenaline rush. Currently he was looking at signing up for sky diving lessons for his next birthday. He had never done it before and had always wanted to. It sounded like an excellent birthday present for himself and with sky diving he didn’t need anymore equipment. Although he had looked up the price to see how much it would cost to purchase his own parachute pack.

It is universally agreed that the present economic situation is, in a word, horrible, regardless of what country you are living in. It doesn’t matter if you are from Oakridge, British Columbia or Timbuktu; it seems we are all experiencing the same sluggish economic downturn. Possibly, it is because the world’s markets are tied together more closely than they used to be, or perhaps it really is a small world after all.

But remarkably, some positives have come from this flood of bad news and even worse predictions. Downsizing and simplifying, especially if it comes as a voluntary choice in response to the effect the economy has had on your own budget, has had the additional unintended effect of reminding people that smaller homes and less possessions might not be as misery inducing as such an idea may sound at first hearing. There are those who believe moving from a larger home to a smaller one has allowed them to reconnect with their family in a way they had not been able to previously. Whether it’s closer proximity, or fewer possessions to individually distract, or even that a new home comes with it a new place to be explored together, families are finding themselves forging deeper bonds through what was initially viewed as unreal adversity.

But navigating the transition from a larger home into a smaller one can also be tricky. What items should you keep? What items should you attempt to sell in a garage sale? What items should you store in a self storage unit? Many folks undergoing such a change might initially view a self storage unit, like the ones at Oakridge Self Storage, as an unnecessary luxury. But self storage units are an important and vital part of the simplification process. Smaller homes might mean more togetherness, but they definitely mean less storage space. However, they shouldn’t mean having to part with things that have special meaning or possessions that have taken a lifetime to collect. Items that parents would like to pass to their children someday, or that special heirloom quilt grandma made, or grandpa’s toy trains have great value, but not always a storage place in a new smaller home.

Storage units like those at Oakridge Self Storage can help by alleviating the pressure to give away or garage sale things you don’t necessarily want to part with just yet. If the items are especially precious, a climate controlled unit at Oakridge Self Storage might make sense. These units ensure those precious items never endure the extreme temperatures that come with the change of seasons. They are treated to the same kind of temperatures you would subject them to if they were still lovingly stored in your home. In fact, a climate controlled until can be a sort of “home away from home” for those meaningful things you want to hold on to through any kind of transition. And once you have these special items taken care of, you can feel more comfortable organizing a garage sale to liquidate items without so much personal value, or perhaps give away additional items to make your simplification effort complete. Less clutter, more quality time with those we love, and our special things taken care of—a recipe for a successful move into a whole new way of life.

Longueuil storage places in Quebec, Canada face the same problems as other storage places. One of the problems they face is dealing with the customers who do not want to lose their belongings in a public auction, but can not pay their bill. This is always a tricky thing for mangers of self-storage places to solve. Customers will some times lose their jobs or have medical bills or are short on money one month, and can not pay their storage rent. As a manager of a self-storage place in the United States of America for many years, we have found some ways to make it easier for managers to deal with these types of problems. As a manager of a self-storage place, this manager always tried to put the accountability on the customer in a very nice way. “As long as you continue to tell the truth, this manager will always try to help you as best as we can, until we can not go on any longer. We would rather have you tell us you can not pay for your rent because you are broke, than tell us you will pay on a certain date and never do it. If you tell the truth, we can help you.” This made it so much easier for the manager and the customer. We could give them dates to pay and if they could not do it, we could make another plan up.

This method worked for us many times, in a matter of fact, it worked most of the time for us. People appreciate honesty, and we always tried to be honest with all our customers. If twenty dollars on a five hundred dollar bill will not cut it, it will not cut it. We told them that instead of taking twenty dollars, because they will never catch up, we have found out in our experience anyway, so why loose twenty dollars at a time, and still lose money. Longueuil storages in Quebec, Canada can also use this method if they want to. Some managers would take the twenty dollars, but once you take what is called a partial payment in the business lingo, the auction process must start all over by law in the United States of America. The auction process starts when a customer can not pay his or her bill and does not pay it for over thirty days. The thirty first days is when the manager can start the process. If that manager takes a payment of any amount, even a single dollar bill, the process starts all over, as if it was the first day again. If a manager keeps doing this, only problems happen.

This is why you need verbal commitments from customers when they will pay, at what time and even how much they will pay. This is done on purpose to tell the customer how vital it is to pay. The time and amount corners them into that commitment, if they do not do what they say, the manager has every right to start the auction process. The manager was trying to help the customer not to lose their stuff. It is the customer’s own fault than for not keeping his or her’s word. They have no right to get angry with the manager. The manager tried.

It is the summer time and the students are thinking of nothing except for what they are going to do with their time. There are no more tests to take, no one to really report to on a daily basis and they have months before they have to think about next semester. One thing they will have to think about before the end of the school year is to find a place for all of their belongings to be kept while they are out of school. They know if they wait too long, they might not have a space to store their dorm room belongings. So they call the closest St. Hubert storage facility to their school and hope they are not too late.

It never fails that a handful of students wait till the last minute to find a space for their belongings. Most of the time they will find somewhere to store at a good price and other times they will be out of luck and have to pay more for unit that are larger. The storing facility will do their best to take care of them, but at the same time, the students should have called earlier. Usually the St. Hubert storage managers will offer some sort of student special to get all of their smaller units taken care of and rented, but when it gets closer to the summer time in which students should have already rented by then, they do not offer the same move in specials.

For most college students, they will solicit the help of their parents to pay for the cost of the storage space, but sometimes they will have to get it all taken care of by their selves. So when they call around and hear the cost of what they have to pay at the St. Hubert storage facility, they try to find out how they will pay for it. The prices are good for the area, but they maybe might not have paid for storage before. It would have been good for them to do some research before the time in which they actually needed St. Hubert storage.

Students have a lot on their plate these days and it seems like the list continues to get larger. One of the things they do not want to worry about is where their belongings will be when they are not in school. They are trying to determine their futures and what they will do when ever they leave college. Where to store, should be taken care of early in the year.

Let us face some simple facts, reader. When it comes down to renting your self storage unit, you are probably not jumping for joy. You are probably going through some stress, and you are probably not looking forward to taking on yet another monthly bill. Of course, you should know, here, that renting a self storage unit does not have to be the dreadful experience that you have heard so much about. Indeed, if you are willing to do a little bit of research before you rent your unit, then you are going to find that it does not have to ruin your mental wellbeing or your wallet. Just put some thought into it, and be sure that you let your common sense serve as your guide.

First and foremost, reader, you are going to want to be sure that you are taking advantage of all of the savings that will come your way if you keep your eyes open for great coupons. Now, coupons may not be the first things that come to mind when you are thinking about your self storage options. Really, though, you are just going to have to take my word for it. Any facility that is worth its salt is going to be able to offer you some kind of moving special when you rent your unit. Whether it is your first month at half off, or your first two months for free, they should have something to offer that is going to make your self storage experience more affordable.

Moving on, here, you are never going to want to forget to keep very careful track of the quotes that you are getting as you are calling around and taking site tours. Calling around can take a while, especially if you live in a big city with many self storage facilities to consider. Thus, by keeping careful track of the quotes that you are getting, you are guaranteeing that you are not going to have to waste a ton of time by calling facilities that you have already spoken to. If you have access to a spreadsheet program, then you are going to want to be sure that you are using it to keep all of your numbers organized as you are calling around. At the end of the day, you are simply going to be able to pour over your numbers and make the best decision that is available to you.

Finally, here, you are going to want to be sure that you are not forgetting to ask about extra services. Most of your self storage facilities are going to be able to set you up with moving trucks and moving services if you know that you are going to need them. Typically speaking, they are going to be able to offer you some sort of discount as a reward for consolidating your move with them. Thus, as you are calling around, be sure to ask your local self storage properties about whether or not they are going to be able to help you consolidate some of your chores.

None of this stuff should overwhelm you once you begin to call around and consider your local options. Just keep this advice in mind, and be sure that you are taking a deep breath when you begin to feel somewhat stressed out. In hardly any time at all, you are going to be renting a unit that you can afford, that can hold all of your belongings, and that can keep you and your belongings nice and safe. There is absolutely no reason to get worked up over this shopping process.

Shopping around for a self storage unit can be rough. There are so many options to consider, so many locations, so many unit sizes, and so many optional amenities to cloud your decision making process. Thus, it makes a great deal of sense if you are feeling a little bit of stress as you are shopping around for the ideal unit. Thankfully, though, you are not going to have much trouble finding the perfect unit if you do just a little bit of background research before you pick up the phone to start calling around. Indeed, with a little bit of knowledge at your command, you can root out all of the local self storage facilities that are going to be able to keep your belongings safe, and with relatively little trouble. As you are reading through this article, do yourself a favor and jot down a few helpful tips for when you are calling around.

The first thing that you are going to want to keep in mind, here, is that you are never going to want to rent a self storage unit that does not come with all of the excellent, industry leading security features that have been developed over the years. And what, you might be wondering, are these amazing security features? Well, reader, that is a pretty simple question to answer. First and foremost, you are going to want to be sure that your unit comes equipped with video surveillance cameras. These cameras are going to give your property manager an excellent feel for what is happening on his or her property, meaning that you are never going to have to worry about someone sneaking into your unit. You might also consider renting a unit from a property that keeps a security guard on site, watching over said video surveillance cameras. If you want to make doubly sure that your belongings are going to be safe, then you are going to want to be sure that you are renting a unit that is going to come equipped with a door alarm. A door alarm is going to emit a loud, alarming sound when someone attempts to break your lock or jar your door, meaning that burglars and crooks are not going to stand a chance at making their way into your unit. Finally, here, you are going to want to be sure that you are renting a unit that has a great store on site. You should be able to buy all of the boxes, high security locks, and bubble wrap that you need without leaving your property, lest you decide that you are all right with wasting your valuable time and money.

Of course, if your belongings require any special accommodations such as a climate controlled environment, then you are going to have to be sure that you are asking about these, too, as you are calling around. It is easy to forget that some of your belongings are going to require special attention, as you are likely rather stressed out when you are calling around. Know, though, that you are not going to be happy with the result of storing temperature sensitive belongings, for example, in a unit that is not going to protect them from seasonal variations in temperature and humidity. Ask all of the right questions, though, and you are not going to have to worry about ruining your belongings while they are in your unit.

At the end of the day, tips like these are going to make the difference between renting a safe unit, and renting a unit that will not protect your belongings.

Some benefits of using the services of a third party managing firm for a place for safekeeping business are given here.

You Get More Time

Once you hire a third party self storage management firm, you do not have to oversee day-to-day tasks like housekeeping, advertising, customer service, accounts, security, and payment of bills and taxes. The firm will make sure that all day-to-day operations are carried on as per the agreement. Thus, you will have more time at your disposal to take care of the serious issues like expansion and increasing returns on investments.

You Have Experts For Managing Your Business

Your storehouse would immensely benefit from the knowledge and expertise of the self storage management firm. A good managing firm with years of experience knows how to attract customers, what should be the terms and conditions of leasing the store units, how to determine the rents of the different store units and services, what security arrangements are necessary for the storehouse, how to maintain the accounts properly, and so forth. This, in turn, would help to improve your occupancy rates, build customers loyalty, improve adherence to procedures, and reduce wastage. Thus, your revenues and profits will increase.

You Get Trained Staff

To run the storehouse successfully, your staff should be well trained. Depending upon the agreed terms and conditions between you and the managing firm, the firm may have the right to hire and fire the staff. Even if you do not give this right to the managing firm, they will train your existing staff so that they can perform better. All employees are trained on soft skills. Besides, the employees are also imparted skills and knowledge required for performing their unique functions.

There are many cheap self storage management options for the savvy storage owner who is looking around.

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/selfblog/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787

When many people look to clean out their garages, downsize their homes, or do a little spring cleaning they are inevitably drawn to cheap self storage . In a majority of cases this is definitely a huge mistake and one that can cause you to lose something that is very valuable to you. The question potential tenants must ask themselves is whether it is worth keeping or not. If you do not care where you store and are not concerned with keeping it safe and only look at price, then it may not be worth keeping in the first place. There is a lot more to shopping around than just looking for the lowest price. You need to consider security, location, cleanliness, and customer service just to name a few.

When you rent cheap self storage you can rest assured that the security measures are going to be lacking. A good facility is going to take a variety of security measures to ensure that your belongings are going to be kept safe. Security fencing and a well lit property at night is kind of a basic feature and any site without at least that should not even be considered when shopping around. Another great feature that will cost a site a lot of money is setting up a state of the art video camera surveillance system. Some sites will brag about this but do little more than set up a couple of cameras that do not even record. They set them up for show. A good site will be able to use their cameras to help deter criminals by frequently monitoring them. Door alarms on all the units are also a nice benefit and something to look for. These are things that you will not find by going with cheap self storage . Also some managers even live on site in order to keep things that much safer.

Another big thing to consider when comparing prices is location. If you find a way to save ten dollars a month but have to drive an hour out of the way to a bad neighborhood just to access your unit, then maybe you should just pay the ten dollars out of convenience. With gas prices where they are and where they probably will be in the future you would actually most likely save money by going with the closer facility even though it would probably cost you more money for the rent. Typically cheap self storage can be in a very horribly inconvenient location.

A must for a lot of potential renters would be to store at a clean facility. The last thing you want to do is store your valuables and nice furniture items in a dirty unit. There are some horror stories about pests and people opening their units and finding mold covering everything and you can use your imagination. Trying to save a little bit of money can cause a whole lot of headaches.

When you get the lowest price possible and go with cheap Laval storage you should be prepared to receive bad customer service as well. They may not be malicious and treat you mean, but it just may be hard to get a hold of anyone when you do need to get help. They may be mean as well.
