Moving to Montreal is Made Easier with a Storage UnitBy jeff on January 26, 2011 | No Comments

Montreal storage places in Quebec, Canada have seen a surge in their business. When we think of Montreal, we think of hockey. Most hockey fans around the world know who the Montreal Canadians are. They have won a lot of Stanley Cups, I think over twenty of them. The stars of their hockey teams are a who’s who of hockey stars. They have had some of the best goalies of all times on their teams and some are considered the very best of all time. We saw a show about best goalies of all time and the show named Ken Dryden the best goalie of all time. I do not know if I agree with that or not, because I was born a Black Hawk fan and we saw old Ken beat us too may times. True hockey fans may say Bobby Orr was one of the greatest hockey players of all time and Canadians might go with Gordie Howe or the Rocket. Yes, I am leaving out the Great One himself, but I do not know. Gordie Howe was a goal scorer, an assist man, a great fighter, and a very strong skater. He played so long and kept his skill level up pretty much. He had at least three sons who played too. All made the NHL. One made the all-star team a few times too. We met Gordie in Houston, Texas once in a store.
Houston is hot, Montreal is not. Montreal storage places are probably heated too inside. No one wants to be cold all the time whoever they may be. No one wants his or her stuff to be cold all the time too. We used to work as storage managers a long time ago and when I go to my own storage space and look around, you think of things to kill time. I find it boring to go to storage because I am always looking for something I can not find. It figures eh? Montreal storage spaces and the people in Quebec, who use them, probably go through the same things as I do. We share a lot of stuff don’t we as fellow human beings. In the United States of America, we also use storage spaces, probably way too much. We could get rid of some stuff, but we do not. You never know when you might need something right? That is my story and I am sticking to it. These are reasons to keep storage, not excuses. How much stuff do we need anyway? I guess we need all the stuff we have as the saying goes.
We heard Montreal is a great city to live in, even though their hockey team has beaten us too much in the past. It is all in good fun though, as all sports should be, but let me tell you, it can be heated some times too. Parents go nuts in America cheering their kids on. Settle down everybody. It is only a game right? No? Sports people make such big money now, and parents who think their kids will become this, well, they cheer a lot. Very few will make it though. Montreal storage spaces will contain lost dreams of hockey sticks and skates. So will American storage places too. Good luck.

Separating Belongings in Canyon MeadowsBy jeff on January 3, 2011 | No Comments
Splitting up and getting a divorce is very hard on everyone involved. No one can truly anticipate how everyone will feel or what everyone will react to the separation. This is a very emotional time and not everyone will be thinking straight or thinking of the best thing for everyone. Sometimes people will go on a wild tangent and do something that they are not pleased with and will regret later. Hopefully they will be able to be forgiven for their actions and their words. The focus is usually on the family and where each person will be going and not always on what will be taken.
When leaving what you have called home for so long you are not sure on exactly what to do. You want to be able take all that you have called yours with you but it is not always possible. What will happen is that you and the other person involved will need to discuss who will have what item. When that is decided, sometimes in court, you might not be able to take that where ever you may go. You might need to find a friend or a family member to stay with until you are able to find somewhere to call home. A great idea or suggestion is for a person in this situation to find a Canyon Meadows storage facility that can hold onto your belongings until you can use them.
There will be times in which one or both of the people involved will not be thinking straight for some time. In some instances both parties knew that this day would happen so they are not surprised. They have already planned on where to live and what to do with the kids, if in the picture. At times it can be a rough time where other times it can just be a big financial burden. Separation and divorce is not cheap by any means, but it looks like in some cases necessary. No one gets married thinking they will be divorced in the years to come. The only positive thing about this situation is that your local Canyon Meadows storage facility has spaces that you can put almost anything into while you hammer out the details. In a very unstable time, your Canyon Meadows storage facility gives you the stability you need.
Your local Alberta facility will have many different sizes that can help your situation. You can get a space as big as a half bathroom or a big as a two car garage. In most cases people in this situation decide to get the smallest space available because they do not want pay more than they need to. They want to have their belongings held on to but they do not want to pay a lot of money for it. They have to make ends work for a while and try to save some money to get back into a financially stable situation.
It is not expected to be in a situation such as this. It is very hard on everyone that is involved and sometimes the people that are not. You will lean on your friends and family in order to help you through this. That is the thing to remember that you will make it through this situation. If you need somewhere to store your belongings until you are able to figure some things out, use your local Canyon Meadows storage facility to assist.

Married Life in Big SpringsBy jeff on December 21, 2010 | No Comments
Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/selfblog/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787
It would seem that on many weekends in Alberta people are tying the knot. It is of course easier for people to attend a wedding on the weekend because the majority of people work during the week, leaving the weekend open. If not, the couple to be married tries to have the wedding later in the afternoon to get as many people to attend as possible. As joyous of an occasion getting married is, after the wedding and honeymoon, reality will set in. There are two households coming together to be one. So who gets to keep their stuff in the house and who will have to part ways?
When the newlywed couple gets back to their home, they have some decision making to do. Often the couple would have already discussed such things, but not all the time will every decision be final when it comes to the home. Hopefully by this time, they would have decided where they would call home and what the other person will do with their former living quarters. As one brings their belongings to their new home, both people will have to decide what both would like to keep. Usually they choice comes down to how they both feel. Sometimes it comes down to who has the cooler item, what goes well with they décor or simply what the wife wants to have in the home. The question comes down to what to do with rest of the stuff.
Until final decisions are made some people decide that the best thing to do is to find a Big Springs storage facility and store it there. By storing the extra stuff in a Big Springs storage facility, they can take their time going through it all and determining that they really want to keep. This process could take a long time or it could be done with in a month. The great thing about finding a good Big Springs storage facility is that most of the leases are only for one month. That way if you only stat one month, you do not have to pay more.
In Alberta it is common to need storage for such things as finding somewhere to store extra belongings. Luckily for the people of Alberta, they can find a local storage facility that will fit their needs perfectly. For the people of Big Springs, they can rest assured knowing that when they look around, they will find the facility that fits them just right. When a couple is just starting out together, they are not looking to spend a lot on a Big Springs storage space, they want to save cost. In order for a couple of save some money, one thing they can do is to get everything into a smaller unit. The smaller the unit the less you pay a month.
Unfortunately not everything that two people have will fit into one space. So with that said, the decisions will need to be made on what belongings will stay and which will go. Hopefully there will be a discussion vs. an argument. After all decisions are made and decided, remember that you love each other and it is not about the material things. Look up your local storage facility and store the things you do not need.

Protect Your Heirlooms with Self StorageBy jeff on October 26, 2010 | No Comments

With pawn shops, art appraisers and auction houses the subjects of popular TV shows, antiquing has left the relatively small circle of museums and grandmothers and entered the mainstream. Displaying as much of your collection as possible is fun, but sometimes space can be a limiting factor. You might also feel like your current home isn’t suited for your treasures, but you don’t want to wait to start forming your collection. Elizabeth Gardens storage is an affordable and convenient option for housing your antiques until they’re ready for display.
However, antiques are more often than not very delicate. Physical damage can certainly decrease their monetary value. If an item is a family heirloom, physical damage can also be a heartbreaking experience. There are a few things you can do when storing your antiques to help keep them well protected.
- Renting a climate controlled storage unit would be the best option. Inconsistent temperatures and levels of humidity can cause havoc for anything made of wood or cloth. Warping, mildew and rotting are unpleasant results of too much (or too little) moisture in the air. Climate controlled Ontario storage will ensure a steady, moderate temperature and level of humidity.
- If you’re not comfortable moving something yourself, hire movers. The added cost will provide peace of mind.
- Anything wooden or leather should be treated with the appropriate protectant.
- Use chemical free materials when wrapping and packing your antiques. Some tissue paper can contain acids which can be harmful to your treasures.
- Furniture should be covered or wrapped to prevent dirt and dust from building up. Any piece of furniture should be stored standing alone, with nothing stacked on it or brushing against it. Upholstered items and/or mattresses should be kept in plastic bags. Your storage facility should have these bags available for purchase.
- If you have any large, heavy antiques that can be taken apart, you should do so. This will prevent any unnecessary stress on the items while they are in Elizabeth Gardens storage. Each piece should be individually wrapped and all pieces should be stored in proximity to one another to make reassembly more convenient.
- Breakable items (dishes and other glassware for example) should be store in rigid plastic crates rather than cardboard boxes. Cardboard boxes are more likely to collapse under their own weight, potentially breaking anything inside. Use the same brand and size of plastic crate every time will make stacking easier and safer.
- Mirrors and framed artwork should never be stored flat. Over time they can collapse under their own weight. Securely wrap each item, using foam padding or bubble wrap to protect frames and glass.
Following these guidelines will go a long way toward ensure your heirlooms and other antiques will remain in precisely the same condition as when you placed them in Elizabeth Gardens storage, leaving each item ready to go when you are ready to create your own little museum.

Airdrie Furniture Storage DealsBy admin on July 9, 2010 | No Comments
Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/selfblog/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787
There are a lot of companies that offer Airdrie furniture storage so you do want to make sure that you are able to tell the difference between the good ones and the bad ones. It is true that not all storage companies are created equal. In fact, there are some places that you would not feel comfortable visiting during the day, much less leaving your things there all night, every night. You should try to pick what it is important to you and then you will be able to compare one place to the next. It is amazing how different locations can be from one another.
When looking for an Airdrie furniture storage space, it is important to remember that the lowest price is not going to be the best deal. The lowest price shopper will probably be disappointed in the quality of the storage space. It can go a lot further than just minor inconveniences. You can really put yourself at great personal risk if you store at a location that is not safe to visit. You also will risk having your belongings tampered with or stolen. There are a few security measures that you will want to make sure are in place so that you and your belongings will be safe when you store.
Besides security, the location of the Airdrie furniture storage location also plays a very important role in safety and security. There are some stores that are located in bad areas and they may have cheaper prices, but that is only because the land prices are cheaper and the demand is lower. It is worth paying a few extra dollars to ensure that your location will be in a neighborhood that is relatively safe. The security in place should include a pin accessed controlled gate, security fencing, door alarms, and video camera surveillance.
The little things can add up to large amounts when you are looking and comparing different Airdrie furniture storage properties. The most common thing that most every storage facility will have is what is called and administration fee. If you have never stored before, this may be brand new to you, but rest assured, pretty much every single facility operating today has an admin fee. The admin fee is only on the first month and is usually around 20 dollars. It basically gets your paperwork set up and squared away. Also, it gets your gate code working and anything else that may be needed for you to get set up. Even if the site offers you a free first month, keep in mind that you will still have to pay the administration fee.
When you are looking for an Airdrie furniture storage spot, you will want to make sure that you remember some other little things. You will need a lock for the space. Typically, anything that is a lock and key will work. It should work as long as it is not a combination lock. There are a couple of different locks to choose from. This disc lock is generally considered to be the highest security lock that you can find. It is round and you cannot cut the lock. It needs to be drilled to be broken into. Some facilities may use cylinder locks which are locks that actually go into the door.

The Best Calgary Furniture StorageBy admin on July 8, 2010 | No Comments
Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/selfblog/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787
It does not get any more basic in the world of storage than Calgary furniture storage spaces. There are a few things that you will want to look for, but out of all of the different things that you can store, this would probably be the easiest. When you need to store a car, truck, or boat there are a lot of factors to consider. It is not as bad when you are looking to store household furniture. You will want to find a place that is safe, secure, clean, and affordable. This should be your focus when you begin your search. If you have no idea what you should look for, then you may be in for a long process of calling around and that may lead to some frustrating times.
One other mistake that people will tend to make when shopping for a Calgary furniture storage spot is to get a price and call the next place. If you do this, you will probably end up at the least safe and secure place in town. You will want to make sure that the security features are in place. Some basic features are a pin accessed controlled gate, security fencing, video cameras, and door alarms. There are even a few facilities that will have a manager that lives on site so that there is always someone there to keep an eye on things. This is typically pretty hard to find.
After you check for security features, you should make sure that the location of the Calgary furniture storage property is convenient for you. Not only do you want to check for convenience, but you will also want to make sure that it is located in a good neighborhood so that there is the least chance for theft of any kind. You many pay a few extra dollars, but it will be worth it so that you can have peace of mind that your belongings are going to be safe.
Something that people don’t want to think about when looking for Calgary furniture storage units is the fact that not all properties use pest control. Some properties may run the risk of having rodents and bugs. If you ask the manager, they should be more than happy to provide you with assurance that their facility is kept clean and pest free. This should be a given, but there are some facilities where this is an issue and you should stay away from them.
The Calgary furniture storage facility that gets your business should be able to provide peace of mind through security and safety with a good location. They should also be affordable. You do not want to put too much of an emphasis on the cost because you may not get a place that you are comfortable with. Some people may claim that they do not care about what they are putting into storage saying that if it gets stolen, then that is fine. However, if they did not care about their stuff, then they would not be going through the trouble of paying someone to keep it for them. If it is worth storing, then it is worth keeping safe and secure. If you have the right approach, you should be able to find a facility that meets your standards and fits into your budget.

What Happens To Grandma’s TableBy admin on May 1, 2010 | No Comments
When the choice is between giving away or selling the table your grandma gave you – the table where you remember baking cookies as a little girl, eating holiday dinners and gathering around to play games – either choice seems like a loss to your heart.
Before you give away or sell your family furniture stop and realize that the self storage world has a place for you to keep those memories safely stores away until you find room for them again in your home. After all, there is no limit to the room in your heart so why should you leave yourself feeling empty because of the square footage of a house?
You can rest assured that Grandma’s furniture will be safe when you leave it in the care of a self storage facility. Some of these properties offer more security than your residence probably has. Of course, there are some self storage properties that are not safe or secure. This makes your goal when shopping around to find self storage properties that offer the security and bring you the peace of mind you need.
If you are like most of us, you don’t know very much about the ins and outs of what self storage has to offer. So let’s take a moment to learn a few features and amenities and how they may benefit you.
First of all, any self storage property you consider should be either 1) completely fenced around the entire property. The fence should be a sturdy, tall security fencing designed to keep animals and intruders out and there is only one way in or out – through the gate. Or 2) all indoors, meaning the individual storage units are inside a large warehouse, so there is only one way in and out of the property – the building door.
These perimeter defense features, whether fencing or a warehouse building, means that only tenants can enter. This goes a long way in security because only a limited number of people who are also tenants of the facility will be able to come and go.
Another wonderful feature of the most advanced self storage properties is video surveillance. The self storage manager is going to be your best defense against hazards and the like, but even he or she cannot be everywhere at all times. By installing cameras in plain sight of all the tenants, it will deter any would-be-thieves and make them think again. However, if they are foolish enough to try anything, the storage facility will have it all on tape. (Although not funny in the least, this would make for one stupid criminal who may or may not end up on some “World’s Dumbest Crooks” TV show.)
Every self storage property, even the least secure facility, should offer you exclusive access to your storage unit. This means that you should be the only key holder, aside from other friends or family you choose to give access to. However, this is where the security of your storage unit relies on you. Do not give a key or PIN number to a friend or family member you cannot trust. Experiencing theft or loss because you gave another person access to your storage unit will be something you’ll regret for a long time to come.
Finally, you can buy peace of mind and security by taking out a self storage insurance policy with the company. Most high-end storage properties sell a protection plan or insurance option that will give you coverage over negligence or loss. Of course, you should read the restrictions and rules before signing any policy or agreement.
These are just three ways to rent a safer self storage unit. You will be able to find storage units like these in your town, so choose the one that makes you feel most comfortable and safe when you think about storing Grandma’s table and all the other family pieces you have collected.
