If you’re planning a move and have already rented self storage in Etobicoke, then you’re well on your way to success, but here a few handy tips that can make the packing process even easier.

First off, come up with a schedule and give yourself plenty of time. The rest of your life won’t stop just because you have to pack up for a move. Give yourself at least 6-8 weeks to get everything packed and you can coordinate a move that maintains peak efficiency by being well organized.

A wise person once said “anything worth doing is worth doing right.” Okay, Hunter S. Thompson said something quite similar, and while he maybe didn’t live the most organized life you can still find much wisdom in what he had to say. If you’re packing your possessions with the intent of moving them, they must be worth something to you. So why not pack them right? Use high quality packing/moving boxes and other supplies. Designed specifically to better protect items while being moved, these packing supplies will become your best friend as you pack your home. You can find these packing supplies at any facility renting self storage in Etobicoke.

Stick to your plan when packing up the house. As much as you can, pack an entire room before moving on to the next. This will accomplish a few things. First, items meant to be kept together will stay together. Secondly, completely emptying a room will provide space from which you can stage the packing of the next room. Third, it will feel like you’re making real progress with your packing if you can see the entire contents of one room after the next going into boxes rather than going from room to room and packing only a few items at a time. Moving can be stressful, so any technique that helps relieve the pressure you’ll be feeling is a good idea.

It’s worth the time to take photographs of the wiring for your electronics, so as to provide a reference for re-assembly. Bag cables/wiring/remote controls for each component separately so as to avoid getting everything mixed up. It’s always a good idea to have saved the boxes of electronic components as they’re sure to provide a perfect fit, but if you have to use other boxes make sure you use towels (or something similar) to help prevent a component from moving around too much inside the box during transit.

When you’re all packed and are loading your moving van, pack it right. Large/heavier items (furniture, appliances, etc.) should go on the van last so they can be among the first items to come off. This is also true for any boxes and other items you’ll be placing in self storage in Etobicoke as you’ll likely be stopping off at your storage unit before going to your new home. Packing your van in this manner will make the unloading much more efficient.

Moving will never be easy, but following these basic packing tips can help make it easier.

A storage Scarborough space can be a great addition for families who have extra stuff. Not only clutter inside the house, but clutter outside as well. Here are a few examples of how families can benefit from self storage solutions:

• First, let’s look at all those things that are outside the home that can take up space. Not only is a storage Scarborough space great for boxes and extra furniture but it can be a great solution for storing things like boats, camping gear, RVs, and extra cars. By keeping these larger items in a self storage unit, or renting an outdoor parking space at a storage facility you can keep the garage or driveway cleared of these larger items, but still have access to them when it is time to head out on the road for a family vacation in the RV.

• Parents of children often come to realize the value that they can get from reusing items. Nursery furniture such as cribs, changing tables, and bassinets can all be reused for the next child to come along. Baby clothes can get to be expensive considering they may need to be changed a few times a day. Saving all of these baby clothes for the next children can help to save your growing family in the future. Babies may be tiny, but they come with a lot of stuff. One of the best ways to save all of this stuff is by renting a self storage space nearby that can help a growing family find the space that they need.

• Seasonal items are those items that are needed or can only be utilized a few months out of the year. Holiday decorations, outdoor furniture, snow shovels, and the outdoor grill are great examples of seasonal items that need to find an alternative home during parts of the year. By adding a storage Scarborough space to your family’s lives you can keep your garage or basement from becoming full of these seasonal items.

• Children grow up at an alarming rate, and while the baby furniture may be long gone, it is time to prepare them for college and moving out on their own. Luckily for them you have been preparing for a while now. In your storage Scarborough space you have saved them furniture that you have found at garage sales, a set of dishes that you got from a closeout sale, and the dining room table that you replaced last year. While you may not be emotionally prepared for them to move out on their own, you have prepared them with enough stuff to have a great start to their own adult life.

These are just a few examples of how a self storage space can help growing families over the years. Each family differs in size and situation, but the great thing about self storage in Scarborough is that there are different sized of storage units to help accommodate each different situation. So make a long term solution possible for your family and rent a self storage unit now.

While some may call it having an “empty nest,” more optimistic people call it having more usable living space. Once the kids are gone and have moved out it may be time to think about what you really want your house to look like. Instead of having those rooms just be bedrooms that are only used once in a great while when your children visit on holidays or laundry day, wouldn’t it be lovely to have a library, or a craft room, or create a room for your husband to renovate into his “man cave.” Wouldn’t it be better to make the spaces what you want them to be and make them into usable space?

One of the first obstacles in making these rooms into what you envision them to be is the stuff that your children have left behind. While your son may have loved his vintage dresser covered in band stickers, it is not really your style, and the walls definitely need a fresh coat of paint. To clear out the space, a quick and easy solution is to rent an Etobicoke storage locker nearby until your kids can decide what they want to keep, or find a place to take their stuff with them.

Once the space is cleared out, and everything is safely packed away and moved into an Etobicoke storage locker space you can begin the process of renovating the rooms to become what you want them to be. A fresh coat of paint, steam cleaning the carpets, and getting to that back corner to clean that hasn’t been seen in ages can turn the space into a new room already.

Now that the space is cleared of everything, painted, and given a good scrub it is time to set up the new room. The canvas has been cleared and you can create a space that is all your own. A space that you can create to whatever it is that would make you happy.

This is just one example of how an Etobicoke storage locker could help with the renovation process for a room or two. Just this one little example would help you to see how having a self storage space could really go above and beyond lending itself to help if you were renovating a whole house, or several rooms of a home.

For full scale renovation having the space cleared is the best way to get the renovation done quickly. You will not have to constantly move furniture to paint, or redo floors. Additionally by having your furniture cleared out it will be protected from any construction debris, and dust that could scratch the paint or finish. The probability that hammers and paint rollers will stay clear of your furniture during a renovation is slim, so its best just to clear out the spaces with help from a self storage unit.

So whether you are renovating one room or are undertaking an entire home renovation having the space to work and providing protection for your stuff can leave you with a renovation that brings you the vision that you have for your home.

What is the first thing that comes to mind when someone says moving? Does your mind automatically think of a grand adventure where you get to recreate a space that reflects you, explore new neighborhoods, and make friends with your new neighbors, or are you on the other side of the spectrum? Do you immediately think of the endless hours packing, the multiple paper and box cuts that could happen to you, and the time that will take to find something that you need once it is packed away?

There are two sides to every argument, but with a little bit of planning and preparation you can help to lessen any feelings of dread that the mere thought of packing and moving bring about. Here are a few simple steps that you can take to make the moving process so a little bit smoother and more of a joyful journey.

• When planning the moving process make sure that your lease dates match up. The day that you move out of your old place and into your new place should be on the same day. This of course at times is an impossible feat. When faced with a gap in lease agreements the best way to handle it is to find a storage unit Toronto space. Find a self storage space that is near your new home and place all of your furniture and belongings safely into storage while you wait for the new lease to begin. While you cannot live in your self storage unit your belongings can live there for the duration of the gap in leases.

• When moving out of your fourth floor walk up apartment think about how tiring it would be to move everything down all those stairs in one day. Think of the lifting, the pushing, the muscle ache that could accompany such a task. Instead of waiting to move everything down all four flights of stairs on one day, stagger the moving out with a storage unit Toronto space. As you pack boxes you can place them into your self storage unit, and when you need help moving down furniture or heavy items see if some of your friends of family members could help you out on those days.

• If possible give yourself plenty of time to move, unpack and settle in. It may be a little too hectic to start a new job the day after you move to town. Give yourself time to settle in, explore the area a little, and the time to move all of your stuff in.

• When starting the packing process for a move you can also use the process to eliminate any clutter from your life. Ask yourself, do you use this? Do you wear this? Do you even like this lamp? While it may be difficult to arrange a garage sale or sell your items online during the moving process, by utilizing a storage unit Toronto space you can set aside all those items until after the move to sell and make back a little of the money you spent on moving.

As you can see by just these few examples, having a self storage unit space during the packing and moving process can be a great help.

The day has finally arrived. It is moving day, and you are about to say goodbye to one home and move into a brand new space. You have been dreaming of the new home for weeks now, imagining how you are going to set up the rooms, and as you packed away all of your items you knew exactly where they were going to go.

Since you planned ahead for the moving day to arrive you have just a few last minute boxes that contain the necessity items that you used this morning and the few items that will have to be unpacked immediately at your new home. You take one last look around, and head out the door for the last time.

Again, since you have planned ahead all of your boxes and furniture are safely stored away in a Scarborough storage locker that is near the new house. Your friends and family that are helping you move are meeting you there in just a few minutes to help you unload your storage unit, and head over to the new space. The excitement of the day is growing and you cannot wait.

Once all of your belongings are loaded into the moving truck and your Scarborough storage locker is cleared out you can finally head over to begin the exciting adventure of life in a new house, and thanks to your careful planning and preparation everything is in place to make all of this possible.

See it was not an accident that you had everything done on time, there was a lot of planning in place. Weeks ago you began the packing and moving process by creating a calendar of all of the events and deadlines that needed to happen before you moved. Utilities companies had to be informed of the switch, and the dates and times that the old house was to be turned off and the new home utilities were to be turned on were exactly happening on moving day. All of your bills and magazine subscription had received notifications about the change leaving you feeling prepared to move.

Since you rented a Scarborough storage locker to move all of your belongings are in one place, and there is no need to move anything else down the stairs to your driveway again. The packing process took the most amount of time and energy and you still dream about packing tape and bubble wrap, but it was all worth it to be done on time for moving day.

Once the last box is moved into your new home you can begin the first steps in the unpacking process. Find those boxes labeled “open first. “ These contain the essentials like toilet paper, phone chargers, a few towels and wash rags, and soap.

While there may be bumps in the road and unforeseen error s that happen during the packing, self storage, and moving process it is possible with planning and preparation to make it as smooth as it can be so that the process is more enjoyable for you and those who are helping you to move.

Renters of self storage Etobicoke will tell you that they each have a personal story about why they rent a storage space. Among these interesting stories is the story of how successful they feel that their move into their storage unit was. Were they prepared to move in a day ahead of the move, or was it a last minute mad dash around the house throwing boxes together of whatever they could find to get all of their packing done before they moved. To ensure that your personal story about preparing to move is not like the latter example here are a few helpful hints to make your packing and moving venture a success.

1. Taking a little extra time during the packing process will help to ensure that your move into a self storage Etobicoke unit and then into your home for unpacking will be easier and less stressful. By this we mean that extra time should be taken to pack similar items together, extra time should be taken when wrapping fragile items in bubble wrap or packing paper to ensure that they make it through the process unbroken. Taking a little extra time to label clearly what is in each box will help when it is time to move all of the boxes into the new home, and when it is time to unpack. Just like packing is more of a marathon than a quick dash, so is the unpacking process.

2. When deciding what to pack first you should probable starts first with the items that are seldom used. This can include decorations, out of season clothing items, books, games and entertainment items, and extra furniture like end tables. When packing is scheduled to begin renting a self storage Etobicoke unit can help the process run smoothly. By utilizing the extra space to all of the boxes you will have room in your home to pack and clean without striving to do all of that between stacks of boxes.

3. While mother nature is going to do her own thing on the day you had picked to move, you can try and work with her instead of against her. If it is going to be hot weather pack the boxes a little bit lighter to avoid overheating. If it is going to be cold try your best to provide some warm beverages for friends or family that are helping in the moving process. To avoid stains on the carpet from the foot traffic of moving in lay down protective sheets in the main walkway areas. While not all situations can be worked around, such as tornadoes or hurricanes, try your best to work with the weather of the moving day.

Packing and moving can be quite an adventure filled with twists and turns of all kinds that are unforeseen. However, with a little planning and a few helpful tips the process can be less of a dramatic adventure and more of a successful adventure.

Not many people find packing up their belongings an especially enjoyable process. It can become time consuming to an already busy schedule, and it is not something that can be labeled as particularly fun and exciting. However, it is a necessary step in moving your belongings into a Toronto storage locker space. The best way to get the task of packing done is to simply jump in and get started. To get started on the packing process you will need a few basic packing supplies.

• Sturdy moving and storage boxes- having sturdy boxes will help to ensure that your belongings are safer while they are being stored. Boxes that have been used a lot before may be weakened sides and are more likely to collapse. Also avoid using boxes that contained any type of food as the smell can linger and draw bugs into the unit in search of food. Getting a variety of boxes is probably necessary since you will have larger items to box up as well as small, but in general try to stick with the same size of boxes. This will make stacking the boxes up in the Toronto storage locker easier and safer.

• Packing tape- is a must in any kind of packing situation. Not only does the packing tape help to keep the box closed but it can help the box to maintain its shape and can also help keep any bugs or dust from getting into your space.

• Bubble wrap and wrapping paper- are an essential part of the packing process if it includes any breakable or fragile items that you would not like to be broken in the packing , moving, and storage process. Using bubble wrap on fragile items will help them survive the process, and acid-free wrapping paper is essential if you will be storing anything that is made from paper or cloth. Books especially should be wrapped in paper to ensure that no moisture gets on to the pages and ruins the pages and it will help add a layer of protection to the binding.

• Moving pads- these are important if you are planning on moving and storing any furniture in your Toronto storage locker. These pads can help protect the paint and finish while moving, and once placed in the storage locker can help prevent any dust or moisture from settling onto the furniture. Furniture is not cheap so providing protection for your furnishings is the best way to save money long term.

These are just a few of the packing materials that are available when planning on moving your items into a self storage unit. When gathering the packing materials that you need remember that by getting quality materials from the beginning of the process may help save your items from damage while they are being packed, moved, and keep them safe while they are in storage. If you have any special items that are hard to pack or store talk to a self storage professional to see what they recommend.

By renting a storage unit in Toronto, you have already taken the first steps in getting your home, your family, and your life on the road to organization. The possibilities that are now available to your family can be numerous thanks in part to the extra space that you now have added.

Just of the few benefits that can be found when a family adds a self storage unit can include more generalized perks like each person having more personal space when there is less clutter in the home, the home being more open so there is more space to congregate all together as a family, and being able to save things for your children to have in the future like pictures, antiques, or furniture.

As you can see by just these few examples, self storage can be different for each family, but the one benefit that they all share is more space.

While working on organizing your home, remember that it is equally important to keep your storage unit in Toronto organized as well. Storage units can be great for seasonal items like holiday decorations, or seasonal clothing items. Just remember the simple trick that it is easier to find all of your items if the boxes are clearly labeled, and stored in the same place. For example you will not want to hunt all over your storage unit to find the boxes that contain your winter clothes. By stacking all of these boxes together you can pull them out of your self storage unit, move in the lighter summer items and be out in a matter of minutes rather than spending time searching through the stacks of boxes for all of the ones labeled as winter clothes.

Not only is it a great storage unit in Toronto tip to store all like items together but it is also a great tip to think about how often the items will be used, or need to be accessed. The boxes that need to be accessed on a regular basis or those seasonal items need to be placed towards the front of the self storage unit.

Spending time moving stacks of boxes that you will probably not need access to for a while out of the way so that you can get to those items that you need often is a terrible way to spend your hours.

By planning ahead what will be stored in the back of the unit, and what will need to be closer to the front, and having sturdy packing supplies that are appropriate for the items you are storing your self storage unit will be just as organized as your home now is.

With the clutter, and seasonal items now out of the way your home will have more room for what really matters most, the people. Who knows, now that the kids have a little more room to move around in, and a little more personal space maybe they will fight less.

Families go through lots of changes, and a storage Scarborough space can help families transition through them all. When the first child comes into the family it can be a huge adjustment for the new parents, and let’s admit it, for one person who is so tiny they sure do require a lot of stuff to keep them comfy, safe, and happy.

Parents who have multiple children will tell you how beneficial it was for them to save, and store the majority of the baby items that they used for the first child for their future children. By renting a storage Scarborough space parents can easily store all of these baby items for future use and not have to sacrifice their livable space in their home.

Children grow, and grow, and seem to grow some more. Through the years there will be opportunities to save clothes, toys, and sports equipment for your own children, or children in your extended family as well. Once your last child has grown out of the clothes then you can use all of these items to gain some of your money back by holding a garage sale or selling items online.

The years fly by and before you know it high school graduation is commencing and your little baby is heading off to college. Luckily for your child you have been preparing for this day, maybe not emotionally, but you have a storage Scarborough space prepared for them with stuff that you have been collecting at sales and savings that you have come across in the past year. The older couch that you replaced last year is safely stored and waiting for their use. There are boxes with a set of dishes that you found at a great garage sale, as well as other kitchen and household items that you have picked up along the way, and even though they may not use it there is a vacuum and mop ready for them to use when you come to visit them.

Once the children have moved out of the house it may be time to change their room from a bedroom into a space that you can use. Perhaps you have always wanted a craft room or a library space. With a self storage space you can move out their furniture and save their belongings for them until they can take them and reclaim the space all for your own use.

For your children, having grown up over the years seeing all of the benefits that you have received with your self storage space is it any wonder to you when they eventually rent their own storage space when they start their own family.

Self storage can not only be a great space saver for you and your family, but it can help you pass on the life lesson of maintaining a clean and organized space for your children. As you can see having a self storage space is great for all of the cycles that life can take you through as a family. Self storage can absolutely be a part of your family as it grows.

When planning a move to Toronto, the most important word in that phrase is planning. Without a good plan in place for a move it can become overwhelming and at times seem like it is falling apart. To keep everything running smoothly and everything on point to be able to complete the process on the day you are moving having a schedule and a plan to get everything complete on time is the best and easiest way to move in or around the Toronto area.

When you first find out that you are moving and have a date set for the moving day start the planning process right away. One of the first things to consider is how much time it will take to pack all of your possessions and the packing supplies that will be needed to get all of your belongings from point A of the move to point B.

One thing that can make the moving process even easier is renting self storage in Toronto to help in the process. By having a space rented at the beginning of your moving process you will see an immediate benefit.

Once you have a set schedule to follow for moving and packing, and a good amount of packing supplies you can begin to utilize the self storage in Toronto space by packing up those seldom used items and getting them out of your way. The majority of these items will include things like seasonal clothing and holiday decorations, guest bedroom furniture, books, craft and hobby items. All of the seldom used items that are around your home can be packed up safely, labeled in boxes, and moved into a self storage unit.

By adding a self storage unit to your moving process you will not be overwhelmed in your home by stacks and stacks of boxes. You will have room to move around your house to continue the packing process, and everything will be organized in your self storage unit already packed up when the day to move finally arrives.

Having a self storage unit can also be a life saver when the leases don’t match up. Often people experience anywhere from a few days time to even a month of time where they need to be out of their old place, but are still waiting to move into their new home or apartment. While you can not live in your self storage unit, it can be a great temporary home to your belongings while you are waiting to move in.

Once you get all moved in to your new home, you may find that there is just not enough space or the furniture you thought would fit does in fact not all fit. When space issues arise in your new home or apartment just remember that the benefits of self storage in Toronto can not only be a temporary solution in moving, but is a great long term solution as well to finding extra space for furniture and belongings.

When a customer calls into a self storage facility they are expecting many things from the person that is on the other end of the call. What a customer is asking is too much to ask. In fact it is quite simple and manageable. What do you think the customer might want to hear on the other end of the call from the manager? If the manager knew what the customer was looking for, would they do their best in order to accommodate the customer’s desires? Hopefully the answer is yes. This is what the customer wants in no particular order. Each of the next paragraphs will explain.

One thing that the customer is looking for is a pleasant greeting. How you greet the customer can make a big difference in how the conversation goes from the beginning. There are some storage facilities, unfortunately, that do not care how they answer the phone. They are as raw as it gets. What is considered a good greeting? What is considered a good greeting is something that thanks the customer for calling, stating the company’s name, introducing yourself and then asking how they can be of help. It should look something like this: “Thank you for calling XYZ Storage, this is Jim, how can I help you today?” Now of course it is more than just the words spoken. You have to be upbeat with a smile on your face. When the caller hears how nice, upbeat and sincere you are, they are willing to tell you why they are calling.

Customers are also looking for a person who is willing to listen to whatever situation they are in. They want the sales person or manager to be attentive to their needs. The customer wants to know that you are sincerely listening and attempting to understand their needs. When those needs are understood, then the customer simply wants you to give them a solution to their problems. If you were not listening to their issues then you cannot help take care of their situation. The customer will find out immediately that you were not paying attention. Be careful not to make the customer repeat their information more than once because it will make them frustrated if they have to. In the customer’s mind, they told you once what their situation was, so why should they have to repeat their selves.

Lastly the customer wants to know that if they have issues in the future, they will be taken care of. How can the customer know this? They can know this by how the manager ends the dealing. Most managers will just say have a nice day where some will go ahead and say if you need anything do not hesitate to call or come by. Some managers even give the customers their direct cell phone numbers to call in case of emergency. It is not a good practice to give the customer your cell phone number because they could abuse it. As a manager or sales person you can simply let the customer know that you are there for them and that you can be more than happy to help them anyway you can in the future. That is all the customer wants to hear.

Getting a sale is just one big cat and mouse game between the sales person and the customer. The funny thing is that both sides knows what the other side is trying to do, but they are also trying to make sure that they maintain the upper hand in the game. The customer wants to make sure that they are not revealing too much information or making sure that they are not giving the sales person signs that they are wanting to make the purchase. The sales person is wanting to not be too pushy and let the customer believe that the sale that is about to happen is all their idea. Oh it is so fun playing this game.

In the self storage world the game is sometimes a very easy back and forth while other times the game can be very stressful. Most times when people are needing storage they have such a desperate need for it right now and there is not a game to be played. While other times the customer still needs the space and no matter what the sales person does, they will still get the sale. The customer in the latter situation just wants to make the sales person sweat. Sometimes the game is very direct while other times the sales person might come from many different approaches to close the sale. What kind of things does the sales person do in order to close the sale and win the game?

Again it is not a secret that the sales person is doing their best to close this deal. They want the customer to go ahead and rent the space. They want the customer to rent the space right now without a moment’s delay. They quickly have to find out what the customer’s situation is and take care of them. So the sales person will ask a bunch of questions in order to figure out the customer’s situation. They are trying to build rapport and be the friend of the customer. When you are friends with people, most likely you will do whatever they recommend. Well the sales person is trying to be their friend for two reasons. One to build rapport to understand the customer’s needs and also to close the sale. If the customer says no to the subtlety of rapport building then the sales person has to resort to plan b.

No one is trying to play games with the customer because the customer has a genuine problem, but the customer is not always trying to be helpful. They believe they can go from facility to facility and haggle prices to get it down to where they are comfortable. That is not needed. The sales person will do whatever they can to close the sale which could include special rates, discounts are even specials. As a customer, all you have to do is ask instead of making the sales person sweat. The sales person could be luring the customer the whole time with dreams of paying a great price for storage and grant their wish.

What makes you as a customer stop and decide to rent from a self storage company? Is it the location of the facility, their pricing, their security or something else? That is a question that has self storage companies going crazy trying to figure out what they need to do in order to get more business. Do they need to relocate their facility or add door alarms to every unit? Being an owner is not easy, but customers do not always make it easy on them.
Many times when customer decides to rent, the property manager will ask them what made them decide to rent there. Many customers will choose not to do the survey or just say, it was a random decision. Something made that customer wants to go there and rent from that facility. This kind of response will drive a self storage company crazy. If a customer rents online, they might actually skip the survey. So when the owners get the survey questions answered, they have to think their selves if there is enough of a sample to get a true measurement.

Self storage is a very competitive industry. No one getting involved in self storage thinks they can come in and make money right off the back. It is tough. So when customers are asked questions like what was listed above it helps the owners in their competitive endeavors. When a customer does not give accurate responses, the owners are left scratching their heads.

Why do customers decide to rent from a particular location? Well that is just it the main reason people decide to rent a storage space is because of the location. There of course are other factors involved, but no one really wants to drive further than they need to in order to get their storage belongings out. Now there are self storage customers who only store just to leave their belongings in there, but there are other people who feel they need to visit their storage unit often. They take it to heart to think that the storage unit is a just an extension of their home. This is a good thing for the most part.

Customers sometimes need to come by and to check on their belongings. If they do not come by to check on their units, they will at least drive by the facility to make sure that everything is in place and nothing unusual is going on. Can a customer do that if they are not close in location to the facility? No they can not. Many people still like to use the location yellow pages or something or the sort to find self storage because they do not want to look at something outside of their local area. They want to ensure that they do not have to drive so far in order to get the storage they are looking for.

There are self storage facilities out there that are in rural places that have no security or anything. They might not have an office or a manager that works on site. If this is the case then you have to decide if this is the site that you want to rent from. Usually these places are pretty far away from your normal drive. For the most part, people want to rent from a location that is on their way back home or close to work. This way they do not have to drive so far out of the way to get to their belongings and then back home. Customers do not want to sit in traffic just to get to their self storage space.

We have to remember that customers are storing their things away from their homes for a reason. If they could storing their belongings at home they would, but they are not so they need to find somewhere in which they could rent close to their homes. Whether it is for long term storage or for short term it does not matter. Once the customer drives to the storage facility once, they are going to think about how far it was to get there. If it is close, then they will think about going back there if they need something. If is farther away than they realized, those belongings might stay there until they feel they really need it or it is time to move out.

It is said that over eight percent of people decided on a storage unit because of the location. Yes price is a factor, but they also know that gas is not cheap and they have to make sure they are not making any unnecessary trips back and forth. Typically a customer will just store things they do not need and do not plan on using again for a while. If they do need it, they know that if they pick the right location they can swing by and pick up their belongings. For most customers, it is all about the location.

How many times do you think you breathe in a day? There are scientists out there that say they know that answer. Well I guess it is not hard to think about how you can find out. Just take breaths for 10 seconds are so and multiply that by how many seconds are in day. Unfortunately I do not have calculator handy so we will just say that you breathe a lot. It looks like we take breathing for granted. We just believe that we are and we do not give it a second thought. It does not take any effort to breathe or bodies naturally do it. That is just amazing really. There will be times in which you will and should take a breath before something bad comes out of your mouth.

There will be plenty of times in which a storage customer comes in already upset at something that affected them before they speak to you. They do not intentionally come into the office to give a piece of their mind to the self storage manager. They want to have something go right for them that day. So the manager really has to understand that they did not do anything to the customer and they are not the cause for their upset state. So many managers need to make sure that they are taking deep breathes before answering or help the customer. That will help them tremendously.

Many people do not realize that they can really just take a deep breath and that can do wonders for them. If you take a moment and take a deep breath, your mind will be clear and it gives you a second to think about what you want to say before you say something you will regret. That is the part that many people do not realize is that words can be hurtful and sometimes drive the customer away. The manager does not want to drive the customer away. In fact they want the customer to stay. So take a deep breath and you will find that you will have a clear head and be able to help the customer.

Breathing is a lost art that many before forget about. Now of course you might ask, how can you forget about breathing. Well you don’t forget about breathing, you just forget about being calm and patient. The breathing is just a tool to use to get you to relax and take a moment before you react. There have been many times in which a customer and a manager got into a unnecessary argument because both sides didn’t breath and were not patient. Maybe the argument would not have stopped but you can do your part to understand how you can not be a part of it next time.

Do not forget to breathe at those times in which you need to. Take a moment to wait for the rational thoughts to come into your head. You never want to argue with a customer but you also do not want to be treated in a bad way. There has to be a middle ground. It is a good move to breathe and not to say anything for a while if the customer is going off on a tangent rant. If this is the case then the customer will eventually realize that you are not arguing and everyone will calm down. Then maybe after that point, you can continue on trying to find them a storage solution.

It sometimes drive me crazy to hear when people who help self storage customer not sound like the have the best solution for the customer. I hear in their voice that they are not as confident as they should be and that the customer is just going to give some excuse and get off of the phone. That should not be the train of thought. You should have the mind frame that the customer is calling to talk to you and will eventually rent from you. Of course that is not the thought that every one has. Why? That is not understood in my thought process. Why would you answer the phone or say hello to the customer walking in to your store with any thought besides they are going to rent from me?

In the self storage industry it is tough to get the customer to decide to rent with them, because of all the competition. The competition can not be a thought in your brain as you are talking to the customer. What I mean by that is it is good to be conscious of the competition, but they should not make you feel inferior with that they have. You have to realize that they do not have what you have. You have the best solution for that customer. The customer just does not know that yet. How will they know that? You have to be the one to tell them. You have to be the one to wow them so they stay to rent with you. How do you do that?

One of the first things you can do to wow your customer is to be confident. Speak clearly, have you head up and speak to the customer as if everything is gold. Everything that comes out of your mouth should be something that draws the customer more and more into what your store can offer them. When you are listening to the customer, you should be also thinking what do you have to offer them that will take care of their needs. I guarantee if you are able to take care of their needs, they will rent from you. It does not help that you have great prices and you are in close proximity to their home.

What you have to realize is that your competition does not have you. They do not have someone at their location that is not willing to help the customer like you are nor are they able to satisfy the needs of the customer. There are many self storage facilities that will try to throw prices at the customer in hopes that they will rent based on that. Many owners have racked their brains trying to get the price just right for people to rent. Eventually many will realize that it is not about the price really. It is about the customer service and the confident mentality that they will rent from you. Don’t push the customer into something that is not going to work. Guide the customer to a solution. Have the thoughts in your head that the person will rent from you and trust me that everything else will follow.

If you know when you are going to move let your friends and family know in advance. Of course having your loved ones and friends help you could make the moving experience a fun experience instead of a stressful one. If you want to get your move done, of course you can hire a professional moving team to take your belongings to your self storage facility. That will cost you money where your friends could either do it for free or for a couple of drinks or food.

You might be able to luck out and find someone in the area that will not charge you that much. Also one thing that could help you that your local self storage facility can help you with is offering a free move service. Depending on the facility you will get a different free move service. Some facilities will offer a mover and a truck while others will just offer a moving truck. Make sure that you ask your facility manager if they have a free moving truck option.

Your local storage facility has lots of packing and storage supplies at a reasonable price.

In the world today, not many people are looking to go from one place to another in order to get everything they are looking for. In fact they would love to go to one place where they can get all of their shopping out of the way. For this reason you are seeing places beginning to sell things that they would not normally sell. Sometimes when you are walking through the aisles of your favorite store, you could come across something that you have never seen there before. The company thought that they would go ahead and sell that product because there is a demand for it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Customers do see the effort and will realize that store has the items in which they need.

When it comes to self storage, you could pretty much get everything in one store. What do you do if you are looking for a lock or moving supplies? The best thing to do if you are looking to store or move is to visit your local storage facility to get some items that you need. They should have everything that you need so that you do not have to run all over town just to get what you need. They should sell a variety of boxes that will come in handy in pretty much every situation. Also, you choose from a nice selection of locks for your storage unit. They should have bubble wrap and tape, as well. They are pretty much your one stop shot for self storage and moving supplies.

If your facility does not have these things, that does not necessarily mean that you shouldn’t rent from them, that just means that you if you need something, you have to go elsewhere. For some people that is not something they want to do and it is time consuming. Self storage managers will without a doubt, speak up about having that kind of facility that is basically a full service self storage facility. If managers have that kind of facility and they do not speak up, they will undoubtedly lose business.

The best thing about a good, quality storage facility is that they are able to offer you a lot of different options so that you are able to get the space that you are looking for. You can get a big or small space. There is nothing to say that you can’t have one of each if you need it. This is not uncommon. When you are looking for self storage it is important to know your options so you can make an informed decision.

You are not just limited to big and small spaces, there are standard and climate controlled spaces as well. I know it is going to get confusing. So you can have a big standard space or a small climate controlled space. It is up to you. Typically the standard spaces are cheaper than their climate controlled counterparts. More people seem to flock to the cheaper prices not realizing the benefits of using climate controlled storage. In order to understand the difference between the two, you should definitely speak to your local property manager.

You can even get a drive up space or one that is in the building. Many people like the convenience of a drive up space because all they have to do is drive up to their unit, roll up the door and then place all their belongings inside. With an inside unit, you will have to open a door, walk down the hallway to your unit, then you roll up the door to place your belongings inside. So both have a similar concept, but obviously one is more convenient than the other. There are many that prefer the inside space over the outside space. This is especially true when there is really bad temperature outside.

Some facilities even have first and second floor spaces. There are advantages to both, but the higher you go in the facility the less amount of money you have to spend. The manager will always try to get you into the best unit that will work for you. They will most likely give you a choice on many spaces if they have many spaces available. If they don’t have many choices available, then you have to decide whether or not the size they offer is the size that will work.

When in need of storage, do not just go with the first place that you call. It is very helpful to go ahead and make a few calls for info. That way, you can find what the best in town is. There will be many places that will try to pressure you into stopping your shopping and rent with them. If you believe that is the best situation and the best deal for you, then go right ahead. In the grand scheme of things though, everyone has something to offer, and you do not want to feel as if you lost out on saving money because you gave up your search early.

Many self storage facilities in your local area will try to say something to you that will get you excited about renting there. Some manager might even be shocked when you turn them down to go shopping elsewhere. The truth of the matter is that when you are looking for a self storage facility you should definitely find something that fits you and not worry about what other people say or think. Before you go shopping around to different places ensure that you have written down what you are looking for or at least have a mental note. One of the worst things that people do is that they have no idea what to shop for or what to ask so they end up not asking everyone the same questions. Then not everyone is compared properly.

You should find a spot that is close by and has good security. As long as the price is affordable, you should be pretty confident that you will have a great storage experience. Still take a moment or two to at least make two to three phone calls to the self storage facilities in your area to see what they have to offer. If it is not what you are looking for then move on. At least you know that you are not settling if you have done your research.

When you are looking for a storage space, it is not helpful to call up and just ask for price and get mad when the person on the phone does not just start shouting out prices. There are going to be other factors that you will want to consider. The price will only tell you how much your unit cost. Where as what you are getting for the price is far more important. You can look up prices online with some companies but people still call and talk to the manager. Subconsciously they are thinking in their heads that they want to hear what else they are getting for the price.

The size is the first thing that the manager will need to know in order to quote you a proper size. They will and should ask you what you are thinking about storing. If they do not ask you this question, you should bring it up. You can ask for the price all you want to, but you if you have narrowed down a size it does not matter. Let’s make it this simple. A price is associated with a size. No manager just wants to go down their price list and tell you everything they have. They want to narrow something down for the customer so they can find the right solution for them.

A small space may be around 50 dollars while a big space could be 300 dollars. You do not want to spend any more money than you need to. There are people that will call a property manager and say to them that they want the average space or the middle space. Some manager will just go right into them needing the 100 square foot space that is most common. Again they have to ask the customer questions to ensure that that is the right size for them. As a manager it is important for you to find the right solution for the customer, not just go whatever the customer says. The customer sometimes does not know what is right for them.

You would think that this is a common sense kind of question, but not everyone knows that you need a lock for self storage. Self storage just gives you the space that you need, you are the one that needs to put a lock on it. If you want your belongings safe, then you should consider putting a lock on your unit.

There are many different types of locks, of course, the ones most commonly used for storage are of a larger variety than that of you diary lock. The most common is a pad lock, which everyone has seen at least once. This is a standard square lock with a key. This type of lock is of course would be the least expensive to purchase so many people end up buying this lock. Conversely this lock is the most susceptible to being cut and your storage unit being broken into. That Is not something that you want to hear of course. Spend a little more and go with another lock that is listed below.

Disk locks are similar, except they are round, and the key hole is on the front instead of the bottom. There is not a lot of room for someone to get a lock cutter in there so it is harder for someone to break into. There are also cylinder locks, which slide onto a steel teeth piece, and combination locks, which are not recommended for storage units.

There are many different kind of locks that you could use for your self storage unit. I guess it really depends on what you want to use for your unit and what you feel the most comfortable with. Your belongings are special to you for a reason, so why not put a lock on there that could keep them safe and in your possession.

What is the quickest way to move? Most people think moving has to be a slow, tedious project. However, there are other ways to make moving simpler. Moving can be fun if you build the right team to help and also the right atmosphere. You can save your team a lot of harm and stress but making sure all is packed up and ready to go. In addition to that, there are a couple of other tips to follow.

For starters, consider what things you need in your new home immediately. If you do not need those things in your new home, then you need to think of another option. One option could be to put the things you do not need into storage. That way you can go through it before bringing it into the house. This makes less clutter in your new place, making furniture moving a breeze.

The best piece of advice that can be given is to always be prepared and get started a little early. Depending on the time of year, the sun rises early and it sets early. You could run out of daylight if you start too late. Moving can be simple and easy if you plan ahead, move things that you need into your home and use self storage for the rest.

There are people that like to go all out for every different holiday where others do not celebrate holidays at all. For those that do celebrate holidays they wil put up different decorations up all over their homes, offices and anywhere else they are able to put them up. If you purchase your holiday decorations every year that could be get pretty expensive. That is why it is a good idea to save on to them year in and year out and maybe add a little more each year. You will find that many people try to put their decorations in a box or something of the sort to store them in their garage. What many do not think about is using self storage in this situation. They think they have room in their home which is not always the case.

If people do not have room for their decorations they go ahead and throw them away. They possibly feel that they can get more the next time around at a good price. Now of course there will be stores that give discounts on holiday decorations, but that still is an unnecessary waste of money if you can just save it. Of course you can call your self storage facility and they will give you their cheapest and smallest space for you to use. Keep in mind you don’t have to only store your holiday decorations. You can store anything else that you need in order to store. Take advantage of your off site storage space.

There has been much controversy on whether or not you need a standard space or a climate control space. If you’re comfortable storing your items in a garage for instance, then you can rent a standard unit. If not, go with climate controlled. Most people like the idea of storing their belongings in a space that is something like their home. Well the thing is, in your home you can control the temperature. With a climate controlled space that is not the case. There is a common misconception on what a standard space does and what a climate control space is like. Let’s take a moment to discuss that.

When you are looking at a climate controlled unit, you have to first realize that most of them will be located inside of the storage space. Not many facilities will invest in a drive up climate controlled unit. It is easier for them to keep the temperature regulated on storage spaces that are located inside the storage building. When you open the door of your unit inside, there is not any temperature loss. When you store outside, facilities know that it takes a while for you to load your items into that unit. So that means that the air system is blowing out cooler air the length of time the door is open. Not a lot of facilities want to spend money on that. At the same time depending on the area the facility will want to make sure that they are keeping the unit at a constant temperature. That is what climate controlled spaces are. They are a space that is kept at a constant temperature. The space will not freeze and it will not over heat. You do not have control over the temperature of the space. Every facility will set the temperature to their specification.

A standard space is just that, a standard space. Depending on where you live the temperature in the area might fluctuate. If it does fluctuate, then you might have some issues with the temperature inside the storage space. If you have anything that is temperature sensitive like electronics, pictures or some furniture, you should definitely think about going climate controlled. As said before, you do not mind storing your things in your garage which is not always climate controlled, then you will be fine storing your belongings in a standard space. The good thing about a standard space is that it will also cost less than a climate controlled space. Take a moment to think about whether or not you need a standard space. Now of course the manager on site will try to tell you that climate controlled is a better solution. Make sure that you are informed.

Loading items into your self storage unit can be no problem at all. There are many different self storage units that you could be interested in, but only a couple that are very convenient for you use. Not everyone needs a space they feel are convenient just because they are sometimes looking for the best deal. Typically the convenient spaces will cost you more in the long run, but while you are putting your things into storage, you are not always thinking about price. You are thinking about the ease of use. Don’t forget that you have dollies at the storage facility that can help you out. If convenience is the most important thing to you, then you should look for a drive up self storage unit.

If you want a drive up unit so you have the easiest loading and unloading offered at a facility then be sure you specifically ask for it. At the same time the self storage property manager should ask the right questions in order to help you figure out the right size and type for your needs. Between the two of you, the right storage unit for your needs should be discovered. Of course when it comes down to it, if the facility manager does not offer you the drive up space that you are looking for, then you should ask for it.

Now for some reason that facility that you are looking for does not have drive up units, then you have to make a decision on whether or not you want to store there. Even though a facility manager will tell you all kinds of things and make you feel like other units will work. The final decision is up to you in terms of whether or not you feel you have to have a convenient drive up space.

It is ok, just make sure that you put that coupon or special offer in a place you can remember where it is. Hopefully when you need that special deal on self storage you can remember where you put it.

A good deal or a coupon can really come in handy when you are in dyer need of a discount. There will be times in which you could use some money off and a self storage coupon could really come in handy. Many storage facilities are not shy about sending coupons to your email or your regular mail. If you do not need the special offer right now, they want to put the idea in your head that you should give them a call or stop by when you need storage. Try not to just discard or toss out the coupons that could save you money in the long run.

It is very difficult for some people to keep track of the coupons and special offers they get and to try to keep them in safe place until they need them. Maybe investing a small file cabinet or if you have an extra drawer you can put these small pieces of paper into.

In the technology world we live in today, many people decide to grab their smartphones, laptops and other devices in order to search for storage. Many end up finding exactly what they are looking for where others end up searching for a long time. Of course many, if not all, of self storage facilities ensure they have some sort of online presence in order to attract customers to their site. Sometimes a customer will not choose to rent with a particular storage facility because they are not online. That same customer wants to get an idea of the facility before they decide to go down to the facility.

When a customer goes online they are looking for prices and pretty much any sort of discount. They are searching their local area so they know the facilities they are searching are close, so that is not a concern. They are trying to figure out which facility in their local area will be able to take care of their needs. Online they will look at the store, any features they need such as climate control and even the look and feel of the store. Now of course the facility could look completely different than the picture online, and that is one of the things that could confuse the customer.

There are a couple of different things that bother customers as they are searching online such as confusing specials, pricing that is not available, or where it says call for specials and deals. There are many customers who want your website to come out and tell them what they want to hear. Naturally many facilities plan it this way so the customer has to call them for more information vs. going from storage facility to storage facility. Most self storage companies feel that if they can get the customer on the phone or even to walk through their door they will rent there. For this reason owners will not always post their pricing.

To the self storage customer that is looking for storage, they will reluctantly call and find out more information, but since they are on to that scheme, they might not give the manager the time of day. This customer will just call, get the information they desire and hang up. They are still shopping. Hopefully your website is enticing enough to attract the customer to call, come by and have a discussion about your facility. Hopefully there is not much confusion on what they saw online and they are just calling to get more information and potentially rent.

It is time for your move across the state and you have planned everything down to the smallest detail. There is nothing that you have missed when it comes to your move. Everything is packed up correctly, everything has been turned off at your former home in terms of utilities. You have let no stone unturned. The confidence that you feel right now makes you feel like you are ten feet tall. You get to your self storage location only to find out that there is not one at the facility. You go to the door to enter the facility and the door is locked. You know that you checked with the facility manager before you drove across state to ensure someone would be there. But there it is looking you right in the face, a sign that says, be right back.

There is nothing worse for a first time self storage user than to have come all this way to the self storage facility in which you want to store at, and there is no one there. You have packed your moving truck full to the brim, but you do not have anywhere to unload your belongings. You frantically knock on the door to no avail. There is no one there. You honk your horn hoping that someone would hear you and come out to service you, but that does not happen. Your heart falls down to your stomach but of course disappointment soon turns into anger, which then turns into panic.

What are you going to do now? You have done everything the self storage manager has instructed you to do, but then the most important thing you need from the manager does not happen. You just need the manager to be there to open the door, show you to your unit and let you move in. Depending on where you are locally and also what time off day you are trying to move in, you might not have a lot of choices. All you want to do is unload your belongings at the facility that you have chosen to store from.

As a self storage manager, it is important that you communicate with a potential renter that you will be there at a certain time, ensure that you are there. If for some reason you have to leave, then make sure you communicate with the renter that you will be back at a certain time or delay the reason you needed to leave. What ends up happening to a customer like the one discussed above is that they decide to go to another facility. You then lose business, you lose potential customer loyalty, and you lose that customer’s recommendation of you to one of their friends or family.
