Boats are not used all through the year in a uniform manner, unless you spend your whole life on water. People usually start worrying when winter starts knocking at the door and lakes freeze over. Before you choose any place, check all these aspects first and then decide. Before taking it to storing place remove the spark plug and replace it with a new plug. Fogging oil is to be sprayed into the cylinders. Do not forget to clean the housing and coat electrical connections with an anti-corrosion spray. Anti-corrosion spray should also be used in all the terminals after you disconnect the battery and clean the terminals. Though disconnected, the battery is to be charged during the boat storing to save any grave damage.

The treatment will have some extra add on in case you are storing the boat on a trailer. In such cases, the trailer is to be checked and the bearings are to be greased and the unprotected metal parts are to be sprayed with anti-corrosion oils along with the routine tire check. The cables are to be sprayed with anti-corrosion oil. The cables of steering column, both in and out, are to be checked and shaft air is to be cleared. Take good care of the boat motor while in boat parking units. The motor is to be tilted downward like in a running position and to be covered with a proper cover. It is better to cover the motor with cloth or canvas to leave it in a breathing condition. A plastic cover can get moisture and may create long term damage. 

Do not forget to put fuel stabilizer and this is a golden rule. Without the stabilizers, there will be condensation hazards in the fuel tank and being in the winter countries you are well acquainted with the hazards. So before taking it to London storage put fuel stabilizer in the full tank of fuels. One more thing, to be on the safe side always follow the manufacturers instructions on the label. After you put the stabilizer, start the motor for few minutes so that the mixed fuel is pushed into the fuel system. Follow all these steps and take a deep breath to get rid of all the tension.
