The best thing about a good, quality storage facility is that they are able to offer you a lot of different options so that you are able to get the space that you are looking for. You can get a big or small space. There is nothing to say that you can’t have one of each if you need it. This is not uncommon. When you are looking for self storage it is important to know your options so you can make an informed decision.

You are not just limited to big and small spaces, there are standard and climate controlled spaces as well. I know it is going to get confusing. So you can have a big standard space or a small climate controlled space. It is up to you. Typically the standard spaces are cheaper than their climate controlled counterparts. More people seem to flock to the cheaper prices not realizing the benefits of using climate controlled storage. In order to understand the difference between the two, you should definitely speak to your local property manager.

You can even get a drive up space or one that is in the building. Many people like the convenience of a drive up space because all they have to do is drive up to their unit, roll up the door and then place all their belongings inside. With an inside unit, you will have to open a door, walk down the hallway to your unit, then you roll up the door to place your belongings inside. So both have a similar concept, but obviously one is more convenient than the other. There are many that prefer the inside space over the outside space. This is especially true when there is really bad temperature outside.

Some facilities even have first and second floor spaces. There are advantages to both, but the higher you go in the facility the less amount of money you have to spend. The manager will always try to get you into the best unit that will work for you. They will most likely give you a choice on many spaces if they have many spaces available. If they don’t have many choices available, then you have to decide whether or not the size they offer is the size that will work.

When people are doing their research to find the best self storage facility for their needs, they have so many questions that they need answered. No every one is patient enough to wait for those answers and to allow someone to help them. If they take the time and remain patient they can actually save a lot of money towards their self storage space.

As the seasons turn from cold to hot, hot to cold, it is important to ensure that your belongings are protected against those extreme temperatures. Luckily for you many self storage facilities in your area offer some sort of climate control option. Of course everyone seems to think that you have a thermostat inside the unit that you can manipulate to the temperature of your choice. This is not the case. The facility keeps the temperature at a particular range of temperature so that your belongings stay safe. These units protect your belongings from the extreme heat and cold weather.

When determining which storage unit you need, you can choose climate control over standard spaces. That part could be the easiest decision. There seem to be many choices to make at some facilities that have many features to offer. Focusing on those things that are important is key. Sticking to the climate control feature, you also have to decide whether or not you want to store your belongings inside or outside. What is the difference?

Storing outside is what many people like to do because they can drive their vehicle right up to their storage unit, roll up a door and put everything inside they need to store. So this is the most convenient way to store. On the other hand, storing inside is just as simple as taking your belongings down a hallway to your unit. With inside climate controlled units, you will end up paying less per month your store than if you were storing outside. Since there are so many units inside of the building being regulated by temperature they are most likely sharing the temperature distribution. The outside units typically need a little more power and effort to keep them regulated.

Keeping your belongings safe is the first priority that you should have when storing. Everything else should be secondary. With that said many aspects could be linked together which as a whole would be important. Storing your belongings outside will give you convenience but it will cost you more money. Storing inside is not as convenient and will cost you less money. Storing inside will also give you the added security of being inside of a building. Climate controlled spaces are the way to go if you storing for a year or even in the extreme times of the year when the temperature is at its worst.

The Islington storage industry has grown by leaps and bounds over the course of the last two decades, not just in terms of the number of storage companies and facilities in any one market, but also in the variety of services these companies are providing to their clientele. One particular development in the industry that has gained quite a bit of popularity is the advent of climate controlled Islington storage.

Now for many people their Islington storage needs are fairly basic, leaving them in need of a storage space that amounts to little more than a second garage. Your local storage company will definitely have these types of units available or rent. However, if you need to store antiques (particularly wooden or upholstered furniture), art, books, newspapers/magazines (or really anything made of paper), electronics or even a wine collection; climate controlled storage is an option you should definitely consider. And those are just the personal items you might store for which climate controlled units are the way to go. For businesses needs to store records, blueprints, photographs, microfilm, x-rays, deeds, contracts or delicate tools, computers and equipment, climate controlled storage units are a must. You’ll end up paying a bit more for climate controlled storage, but the price will pale in comparison to what you might lose if you keep delicate items holding real or sentimental value in non-climate controlled storage.

When shopping for climate controlled Islington storage, the most important question you’ll want to ask of a storage company is how they define “climate controlled.” It should mean at a minimum the temperature inside your storage unit will never rise above 90 degrees nor fall below 40 degrees. What you really want to hear is temperatures are maintained at as constant a level as possible, using indirect heating and cooling techniques. It’s also important to ask if humidity is regulated. Maintaining a steady temperature in your storage unit is important, but changes in humidity can cause wooden furniture or musical instruments to warp and allow for mildew to form on upholstered furniture and any paper products you might want to keep in storage.

Once you’re satisfied you’ve found a climate controlled storage unit that can fit your particular needs, you’ll enjoy a variety of benefits beyond regulated temperature and humidity that not every regular storage unit can boast. These include:

Most climate controlled storage units are located inside finished buildings, reducing the amount of dust and debris that can work its way into a storage unit.

Being inside a finished building, climate controlled storage units are generally less accessible to the general public that are outdoor storage units. The same holds true for pests and vermin.

For the most part, climate controlled storage units are built above flood levels, reducing the risk of natural disasters destroying anything you’re keeping in storage.

Climate controlled storage units should be static-free, reducing the risk involved with storing computers and other electronics.

Renting self storage for personal or commercial use is supposed to make life easier, by allowing for more organization, efficiency and productivity in the home or office. Why defeat that purpose by allowing doubt as to the safety and security of your stored items to enter the picture? Contact your local self storage company today for help finding the climate controlled storage solution that will best fit your needs.

Spring may be on its way, but winter certainly did a number on most parts of the country. That’s not always a bad thing though, as many people enjoy the recreational opportunities only available when there’s snow on the ground. However, with winter being at most 4 months long in most of the country, does it really make sense to keep all that stuff in your home? Wouldn’t it be more convenient to keep all your winter equipment in one place where it’s not taking up valuable space?

Renting a Hagermans Corners storage unit is the perfect solution to season gear. You can use it year round, of course, but it seems like the real value is in storing all the winter gear that is necessarily bulky for fighting the cold. However, winter isn’t just about shoveling snow and getting rid of ice. Snowmobiling is a common winter activity. Properly storing your snowmobile is the best way to ensure it will operate at maximum efficiency when the next blizzard rolls through. Tips for storing your sled include:

Renting a climate controlled Hagermans Corners storage unit. Fluctuations in temperature and humidity can lead to condensation forming on parts. This condensation can cause the metal in your snowmobile to corrode.

Clean the entire machine as it you were taking it out for the first time of the season.

You’ll want to spray down the engine and other moving parts with a lubricant (WD-40 for example) prior to storage. This will keep the parts lubricated through the summer when your snowmobile is not in use.

Disconnect the batter and attach it to a charger. This will keep the battery fresh and lessen the chances of a fire or electrical issues.

Go over the engine carefully, making sure everything is working properly. Broken or worn out pieces should be replaced. Remove the sparkplugs and place a small amount of lubricant in the cylinders. This will keep them from corroding over the summer.

Stuff rags into any openings in your snowmobile (specifically the exhaust pipe). This will further minimize condensation and prevent birds or rodents from forming nests in your machine.

Remove the seat to your snowmobile. Any moisture can cause it to mildew, resulting in an unpleasant odor. Treat the tires and any hoses with the proper rubber protectant.

Opinions tend to vary on what you should do with your fuel. The two schools of thought are draining the tank entirely or topping it off for the summer. There are arguments to be made in either direction. A good tip would be to consult the owner’s manual of your individual model for the most ideal storage solution.

Storing your snowmobile off the ground (on a wooden pallet for instance) will help prevent the track and skis from rotting.

Of course along with your snowmobile, you can store your skis, sleds, snowsuits and ice fishing gear, ensuring everything you need to enjoy the winter wonderland is in the same easy to find place when you need it. Clear up space in your garage as well by keeping all the materials you need to survive the winter in storage as well. This could include your ice melt, snow blower or, if you really enjoy working in the snow, your shovels.

Winter isn’t always easy to deal with, but it can be fun. No matter if you love the snow or hate it, using Hagermans Corners storage can make your winters just a little bit easier to handle.

Music has long been heralded for its therapeutic capability. Anyone can go to the local record store and buy the latest CD, but learning to play an instrument can be emotionally gratifying and a fun hobby. However, musical instruments and their equipment can take up quite a bit of space, and have special handling needs. Here are some tips for storing your musical instruments:

The critical first step is finding a climate controlled place for storing your instruments. Excessive temperatures and humidity can be very damaging to delicate instruments, particularly those made of wood. So storing them in your basement or garage is not the answer. If you don’t have a place at home for storing your instruments, a climate controlled Keelesdale storage unit is the ideal answer for you. Your instruments will be kept in an area with consistent levels of temperature and humidity, no matter what the external weather conditions may be.

Prepare your instruments prior to storage. Clean and polish them appropriately. Remove reeds, mouthpieces, mutes and other removable parts. Relax the strings on your guitar, bass, cello or other stringed instrument.

Whenever possible, store your instrument in its original case. Cases should be clean and in quality condition. Before closing the case on a stringed instrument, drape a cloth over the strings.

Pianos and organs should be covered with a sheet or tarp to prevent the buildup of dirt and dust.

Store your instruments away from the door and any vents of your storage unit.

Store all instruments off the ground. Shelves for small instruments and pallets for pianos, organs, etc. are ideal.

If you are storing a piano, you should consider having it moved by professionals.

If you’re storing songbooks, sheet music, CD’s, DVD’s or any stored music (e.g. flash drives, external hard drives, etc.), keep those items in a waterproof, airtight plastic containers.

You might also want to consider purchasing insurance for your instruments. If it’s valuable enough for you to go through all the precautions involved with storing it, then it’s probably valuable enough for you to insure it. For that reason, you’ll also want to keep a precise inventory (with photographs) of everything you store.

If you have any specific questions regarding the storage of your musical instruments, speaking with one of your local storage facility’s well-trained manager of staff members should provide the answers you need.

Now that you know how to keep your stored musical instruments safe, you can also take advantage of an added benefit to maintaining a climate controlled Keelesdale storage unit. It provides the perfect place for you to practice the playing of your instruments. You’ll be in an area that is free of distraction, and you won’t have to worry if your playing is disturbing anyone else in your home or your neighbors. This can really help beginners, who might otherwise allow their self-consciousness to lead them to giving up on learning to play without ever having giving themselves a chance.

Everyone loves music. If your love runs so deeply you want to make own music, you can rely on Keelesdale storage to protect your valuable instruments and equipment.

Sillery storage in Quebec Canada had two guitar players playing their guitars on the storage property. They would play for hours every day and we could hear them getting better and better all the time. They were young kids with long hair but were always nice. We liked their dedication and every single day, they were there jamming away. They would arrive at the Sillery storage place in Quebec, Canada at the same time every morning, never late. If we saw them, it must be ten o clock in the morning, and sure enough it was ten o clock when we saw them. We would say hello, as they got ready. They would pull out the guitars from the guitar cases and tune them first. One tuned by ear, the other had a device on the neck of the guitar to tune. These are cool devices they have now, and even people on TV use them now. After that, they would strum a few chords than plug in to their amps and adjust the volume levels.

They were never too loud these two kids in the Sillery storage place in Quebec, Canada. They were always respectful. They would close the door of their storage space, only slightly raised up from the ground, as to open it easier, and start playing songs. We did not recognize the songs, but the songs did sound good to our ears. One day, we asked them what songs they were playing, and they said they wrote them all by their selves. That was good to do that because the creativity was good for your mind and besides it is hard to copy a singer like Robert Plant or Stephen Tyler and make their songs sound good. They agreed, but they both just liked the idea of playing their own music if people liked it or not. They were hoping people would like their music of course, but you never know, what people may or may not like when it comes to music.

Sillery storage in Quebec, Canada had music spilling from their property every day and it was fun. We could hear them getting better every day and even on the weekends, they were there. One day we saw more people come in their storage place and pretty soon, they had a drummer and a sax player. They added a bass player, and soon the whole band was jamming away in the storage place in a Sillery storage facility. We heard them working out the songs and playing them faster, or slower, or louder, or softer. One was sounding pretty good by the time they had it all worked out in their heads. They were so proud and one could tell how excited they were. So music filled the air everyday on our storage property and the other renters of storage spaces here, could hear them too. Not a single person complained or were upset about the young kids fighting for a dream. There are many dreams in storage spaces, and many lost dreams too. We have a few lost dreams in storage spaces too. So everybody out there if you are reading this blog, do not give up your dreams because later on we saw those kids playing in a small bar down the road.

Websites like eBay have turned many of us into amateur (and for some semi-professional) retailers. The growing popularity of shows like “Pawn Stars”, “American Pickers” and “Auction Hunters” has taken e-commerce a step further by convincing each of us priceless antiques are gathering dust in our attics, basements, garages or (for some of us) our Flemingdon Park storage units.

The sad truth is, most of us don’t have priceless works of art or famous historical artifacts tucked away in our homes or Ontario storage units. That doesn’t mean, however, that our belongings don’t carry a special value in our hearts. Renting Flemingdon Park storage is an excellent way to protect those items that mean something to you, but don’t have space in your home at the moment.

Self storage provides convenience. Rather than clutter up your home with furnishings or decorations you’re not really using, you can place some of those items in a safe, secure Flemingdon Park storage facility. You’ll be amazed at how much larger you home will seem just by removing one or two pieces of furniture that you weren’t using anyway, and with locations throughout Ontario, your items will never be far away from home….in case you decide to re-decorate.

Self storage provides security. Perimeter fencing, secure keypad access at the gates and 24-hour video surveillance guarantee the safety of your items. There’s no point in storing precious items outside your home if you’re just going to worry about them all the time. The network of security provided by renting Flemingdon Park storage will set your mind at ease.

Self storage will provide your property with safety. If you’re storing more delicate items, you even have the option of renting climate controlled Ontario storage. With central air maintaining a constant, moderate level of temperature and humidity, your precious cargo will remain in its current condition no matter what the weather may be like outside.

Self storage is affordable. With storage available in a wide range of sizes, knowledgeable, on-site managers and well-trained staff members can work with you to make sure you’re only renting the amount of storage you actually need. Month to month leasing options ensure you’ll only be renting that storage space for as long as you need it.

So maybe most of us don’t have priceless treasures lying around the house. Storing things important to you in a self storage unit will help guarantee they maintain their condition. For the sentimental among us that fulfills a different definition of the word priceless.

With pawn shops, art appraisers and auction houses the subjects of popular TV shows, antiquing has left the relatively small circle of museums and grandmothers and entered the mainstream. Displaying as much of your collection as possible is fun, but sometimes space can be a limiting factor. You might also feel like your current home isn’t suited for your treasures, but you don’t want to wait to start forming your collection. Elizabeth Gardens storage is an affordable and convenient option for housing your antiques until they’re ready for display.

However, antiques are more often than not very delicate. Physical damage can certainly decrease their monetary value. If an item is a family heirloom, physical damage can also be a heartbreaking experience. There are a few things you can do when storing your antiques to help keep them well protected.

Renting a climate controlled storage unit would be the best option. Inconsistent temperatures and levels of humidity can cause havoc for anything made of wood or cloth. Warping, mildew and rotting are unpleasant results of too much (or too little) moisture in the air. Climate controlled Ontario storage will ensure a steady, moderate temperature and level of humidity.

If you’re not comfortable moving something yourself, hire movers. The added cost will provide peace of mind.

Anything wooden or leather should be treated with the appropriate protectant.

Use chemical free materials when wrapping and packing your antiques. Some tissue paper can contain acids which can be harmful to your treasures.

Furniture should be covered or wrapped to prevent dirt and dust from building up. Any piece of furniture should be stored standing alone, with nothing stacked on it or brushing against it. Upholstered items and/or mattresses should be kept in plastic bags. Your storage facility should have these bags available for purchase.

If you have any large, heavy antiques that can be taken apart, you should do so. This will prevent any unnecessary stress on the items while they are in Elizabeth Gardens storage. Each piece should be individually wrapped and all pieces should be stored in proximity to one another to make reassembly more convenient.

Breakable items (dishes and other glassware for example) should be store in rigid plastic crates rather than cardboard boxes. Cardboard boxes are more likely to collapse under their own weight, potentially breaking anything inside. Use the same brand and size of plastic crate every time will make stacking easier and safer.

Mirrors and framed artwork should never be stored flat. Over time they can collapse under their own weight. Securely wrap each item, using foam padding or bubble wrap to protect frames and glass.

Following these guidelines will go a long way toward ensure your heirlooms and other antiques will remain in precisely the same condition as when you placed them in Elizabeth Gardens storage, leaving each item ready to go when you are ready to create your own little museum.

Most of us enjoy listening to music. We buy CD’s. We download the latest hits from the internet. For many of us our musical tastes are part of what makes us who we are. For some the love of music is so intense they buy instruments and learn to make music on their own.

Owning your own instruments and learning to play can be a lot of fun, but it’s also a lot of work. If you run into stretches in your life where you’re just too busy to pick up the guitar, sit down at the piano or sidle up to your cello. You’ll want to go back to playing at some point, but in the interim you need a place where you can keep your valuable (and very delicate) instrument safe and secure. That’s where Dunbarton storage can help you out.

Using climate controlled Ontario storage is the ideal way to ensure your favorite instrument will be in pristine condition when you’re able to return to it. Instruments, particularly those made of wood, are very susceptible to the conditions in which they sit. Too much, or too little, humidity can cause wood to warp or contract. Climate controlled Dunbarton storage will maintain a moderate temperature and humidity no matter what the external weather conditions may be like. This will allow your wooden instruments to retain their original condition, which will allow them to produce their full range of sound.

When you are storing instruments, you should keep them in their original cases whenever possible. Drape a sheet over a piano to prevent a buildup of dirt and dust. In the case of a piano, hiring professional piano movers is a pretty good idea. Stringed instruments should have their strings relaxed and then covered with a cloth. Reeds, mouthpieces and mutes should be removed and stored separately (but along with) their instruments.

Nothing should be stored in contact with the floor. Wooden pallets are an easy and affordable way to store your instruments off the ground. You should also avoid keeping instruments near the door or vents of your Dunbarton storage. This will help further ensure atmospheric conditions cannot harm the integrity of your musical instruments.

An added benefit to storing your instruments in climate controlled Ontario storage is that you also have a ready-made place for playing. For many, the decision to quit playing an instrument stems largely from self consciousness. A private place to play may be just the thing you’re looking for. And if you’re not self conscious? Well, a private place for you to play may be just the thing your family and/or neighbors are looking for.

Using Dunbarton storage, while following these basic tips, will provide you the convenience of storing your instruments (which let’s face it, can be fairly bulky in the case of a piano) outside of your home without any worries about their condition when you return to them. That will allow you to pursue your hobby at a pace that is convenient for you. Isn’t that what hobbies should be anyway?

Every place on this earth can have some unpredictable weather. There are many places in the world that have very consistent weather and you can rely on what the temperature is going to be day in and day out. For the majority of us, we have to gain inside from weather maps or our local weathermen. They do the best they can, but sometimes the weather has a mind of its own.

In our homes we adjust to the outside weather conditions with either turning on the furnace when it is cold outside, or turning on the air conditioning when it is hot. This just makes sense, but there are some that will wait until the extreme on either side before they decide to act. Depending on what they have in their home, they will need to ensure that the temperature stays consistent so there is not any damage to those particular items. The same is true with some climate controlled Montreal storage units.

For your peace of mind, some Montréal storage facilities equip their selves with some climate controlled units. They do not want you to store your belongings in a place in which your belongings can get damaged because of the outside weather conditions. Just because Montréal is up north does not mean that the city cannot get very warm. For this reason the facility gives you the option of a standard space or a space that is temperature controlled.

If you are the renter that is storing paintings, leather, electronics or anything else that is very temperature sensitive, it is a good idea to use climate controlled Montréal storage units. Many have not even heard of that kind of space as an option when it came to storing. The simplest explanation for most is that the space protects your belongings against the extremes of the temperatures. It is similar to the conditions in any given room in your house or office space.

If you are the kind of person that is totally ok with storing your belongings in your garage, then you can just get by with a standard space. This is the most economical way to store in terms of price for the size. Climate controlled is more expensive. Getting into a standard space is fine if you do not mind that when it is freezing outside, that it could be equally be that cold inside your Montréal storage space.

Collins looked at his wife of ten years and wondered how he had ever lived before she came into his life. He took for granted how wonderful his life was sometimes, but at the moment he was realizing how much his wife had to do with his life running smoothly. His wife, Kelly, was a stay at home mom of their three children. She kept all of this kids on schedule with school for the two older ones and all of their extra curricular activities and also taking care of the baby and taking care of their house. She always made sure that he had his keys and brief case ready when it was time to leave for work and she never let him leave with out telling him that she loved him. He began to watch her and think of all of the little things that she did for him and the kids to make their life the best that it could be. He sat and thought of something that he could do that would just be for her.

Kellys favorite activity was painting and he thought that it would be cool if she could have her own art studio in their house. Collins thought about this plan of his and decided that no one ever used the guest room upstairs and that with all of the widows in there it would be the perfect place. He conspired with her brother and his brother to help him move all of the furniture into a Laval storage unit that he had found to help him with his plan. After the room was cleaned and everything moved into Laval storage Collins began to set up all the art supplies that she had tucked away in their closet. She did not have a lot of stuff but one trip to the craft store in town and that part was solved.

When Kelly got home that day she was surprised to see her husbands car in the driveway. He was hardly ever home at this time of the day. She had spent the day at her moms house and had come home to start dinner. When she went inside Collins told her to come upstairs. She thought that it was odd that he would be in the guest room, and as soon a she opened the door her breath was taken away. Collins immediately explained about the Laval storage and how it had all been for her. He wanted her to have a space that was all her own. Kelly could not believe that he had gotten all of this done in one day and had obviously been planning it for a while if he had gotten the Laval storage unit already. She could hardly wait to begin painting, and she knew that the first thing that she was going to paint would be a present for her husband as a way to say how much she loved him.

Few Climate-Sensitive Items That Are Prone To Damage

Electronic goods- Electronic items are susceptible to moisture and need to be kept in dry places to last longer. The easiest way to ruin electronic goods is to let moisture seep in. People who reside in coastal areas are exposed to extremely humid conditions. Keeping electronic items stored in a store house which is dry and warm would be ideal in such conditions.

Clothing and mattresses- Once clothing is exposed to dampness, it can get affected by mildew and mold. Also the clothing which is packed in storing boxes should be completely dry. Mattresses also can get soggy and damaged due to heat, humidity, and cold. Climate controlled self storage is, thus, ideal for such items.

Paintings and items made of paper- Paintings, books, artwork, and paper items do not last well in extreme humid conditions. The paper could possibly rot or stick together and thus get ruined. Mildew and mold may also attack these goods in humid conditions.

Wooden articles and upholstery- Wooden furniture and upholstered items are far more susceptible to extreme climates than you can imagine. Antiques, particularly, are more prone to damage due to excessive moisture or dryness. The wood may get covered in mold and mildew and may start to rot. Mildew and mold can also cause health problems like allergic reactions and asthma. Climate controlled self storage should thus be considered for these articles. Extreme dry conditions, on the other hand, can cause wood to warp and crack.

Musical instruments- The wooden material of musical instruments is likely to warp and crack due to excessive heat. If leather is used in any of these instruments, then again, there is likelihood of damage as leather is also climate sensitive and can easily whether if not protected properly.

Why Should I Use Weather Controlled Stockrooms

Even though climate controlled self storage is more expensive when compared to the regular storehouses, the benefits of these facilities are well worth the cost. A facility that can be climate controlled ensures that the temperature never falls below the freezing point during winter. During summer, overheating is also prevented. The temperature can be set at a constant level for each unit according to the preference of the client. So, if you are storing certain items in your unit that require to be kept at a particular temperature, you can ask the storehouse manager to set the temperature of your unit to that level. A sturdy construction of the storehouse also ensures that there is no rodent or insect infestation in the unit. Climate controlled self storage also helps to prevent the build up of mold or mildew inside the unit. This is done by ensuring that there is no humidity inside the unit.
