Kent had spent the day waling through his house with her newly appointed realtor and discussing all of the ways that he could make his house a top contender in the market. She called it staging his house for sale, and he called it lets get this house sold. His realtor gave him some great ideas about clearing out the storage areas so they appear larger, making the garage clear so that potential buyers see how much space there is, and arranging the furniture in the rooms to be an easy flowing space and appear larger.

Kent decided that the only way he was going to be able to stage his house was to enlist the help of some outside resources. Those resources being his sister to help him arrange the furniture and make it look less like a bachelor’s house, and also the help of a Scarborough, Ontario self storage facility that was nearby. The self storage unit was going to hold all of those items that he had stored in the attic and the garage so that potential buyers did not just see his clutter, and also any furniture that was not needed in the rooms.

Kent started the staging process clearing out the stuff that he had boxed up in the storage spaces around his house and those were the first things that were moved into Scarborough self storage. The spaces all got a thorough cleaning, and next it was going to be staging each room.

His sister was helping him box up the unnecessary stuff in the rooms, and helping him to arrange the furniture in a way to help him maximize the space and show off each room to the best of their ability. Kent was actually surprised when everything was moved out of the house and into the Scarborough self storage location how big each room appeared, and how his house no longer looked like his bachelor pad.

That weekend his realtor came by and she was very impressed with how the staging of his house had progressed. They had an open house set up and she was as hopeful as he was that they would find a great potential buyer quickly.

Thanks to the great staging and the help of the Scarborough self storage unit and the help of his fantastic realtor Kent got two different offers that weekend and was able to get his asking price met. It was the perfect end to his house selling stage with the added bonus of some of his stuff already being packed be already had a head start on that process.

Since he already had the Scarborough storage unit he began to pack more and more boxes and place them in storage so that he could get everything packed and give the house one final cleaning before he turned it over to its new owners. It had been a great first house for him and he hoped that the next owners loved it as much as he had. For Kent however it was on to bigger and better things and he was excited about the next phase of life that was on the horizon for him. He would miss his first house, but it was time to give someone else the chance to grow there as he had.

Mark and his wife had been talking about renovating their home and adding on to give their family the space that they needed. They loved their home and had considered selling and simply finding a bigger place, but they loved the school district they were in, and they were friends with their neighbors and would often spend the weekends having dinner at one of their houses or having their neighbors over. They had plenty of back yard space that they were willing to give up for the addition, and so it was decided that they would simply add on to their current home.

They worked with a contractor to talk about that they wanted. They wanted to expand the kitchen and living room area considerable and make more of an open floor plan. They also wanted to add on two bedrooms so that they each child would have their own space and they would have a home office and guest room space. Once the contract was signed and the plans drawn out it was time to clear out the spaces while they renovated.

Mark had decided when they were in the process of working with the contractor that it was going to be easier if they could clear out the spaces that were being renovated. This way none of their furniture would get damaged and they could also begin to look for some furniture to fill up the new spaces.

So as soon as the renovation was set to begin Mark rented a Lyndale, Ontario self storage unit that he had previously researched. When he began to do his research he started looking at self storage facilities that were near their home. He did not want to have to haul all of their furniture and stuff across the providence. Once he found a few that were within this location range, he began to compare the price ranges, and the different amenities that each of the Lyndale self storage locations had to offer.

He was able to find the right self storage unit for his needs, and as soon as they had a start date for construction they began to move out the living room furniture and decorations and all of the stuff that was in the construction zone.

Living in a house that is under construction is not always easy. You have to make adjustments to your daily routine, and you have to live with the noise and the dust and debris that comes with any type of remodel or renovation.

While the renovation was going on they did a little shopping around to get bedroom furniture for the new bedroom, as well as looking for office furniture. When they found what they were looking for they moved it over to their Lyndale storage unit until the renovations were done.

With weather delays and a few unexpected set backs they were able to get the renovations done just three weeks after the expected date. They were able to move in all of their stuff from their Lyndale self storage unit and set their house back in order once again. They could return to a normal daily routine once again, and now that each child had their own room and there was more personal space it seemed as if everyone was getting along much better. The renovation was a success.

Greg and Sandy were going to move into Greg’s childhood home. After the death of his mother they decided that they would be moving out of their apartment and that they would move into his parent’s house. They had quite a lot of money saved up because they were saving up to buy their own house. They planned to use that money instead of a down payment to update and renovate the home to make it more modern and fix some of the problems that the home had.

They were going to continue to live in the apartment while the renovations were going on so that they did not have to live in the middle of a construction zone. However, before the renovations could begin they needed to clear out the house. They lived in a one bedroom apartment in order to save money for their down payment so they did not have a lot of furniture and much of the furniture that was in the house they were going to keep.

In order to save the furniture and stuff that they wanted to hold onto they began to look for a Longmoor, Ontario self storage unit that they could utilize to help they clear out the house. They were really looking for a Longmoor storage location that was close to the house so that they did not have to take everything far away to be stored and then move it a long way back in. while they also considered things like price and security their main concern was location.

They found the Longmoor self storage location that had everything that they were looking for and they begin to move out the furniture that they were going to keep. It took Greg and Sandy a few days to sort through everything and decide on what items they would keep and on what items were either going to be trash or could be donated to one of the local thrift stores.

Finally they got the house cleared and everything they had wanted to save was safe from the construction dust and debris in their Longmoor storage unit. The construction work was set to begin that week and they were excited to get the renovations started.

When the renovations were complete the bathrooms and kitchen had been updated, the carpet in the living room and dining room were replaced with hardwood flooring and the house was now ready for them to make it into their own home.

They moved everything out of their apartment and moved in all of the stuff from the Longmoor self storage unit and began to unpack. A few rooms were similar to how they were when Greg was growing up, but for the most part they made each space their own style.

Greg loved the idea of starting a family and raising them in the home that he had grown up in. he loved being back in the house that held so many memories for him and was excited to make new ones with Sandy and hopefully soon they would be adding a child into their family. With the updated home they now had the space to start their family and be in their own home and not their small apartment. Life was looking good for their family.

  • Visit Your Memories with a Storage Unit

Greg loved his grandparents more than almost anyone. They had basically raised him and he did everything that he could to help them. Even though he was grown and started his own family he stopped by weekly to check on them and anytime they needed something done around the house or something fixed he went over to help them.

This weekend he was going to help his grandparents clean out their Lakeview Park, Ontario self storage unit. He did not even know until a few months ago that they were renters of a self storage unit. When his grandmother was looking for something and mentioned that it might be stored away in their self storage unit Greg was completely surprised. He asked them how long they had had the self storage unit and was shocked that they had been renters for years and years at the same facility.

His grandparents asked him to help them look through the stuff that they have in their Lakeview Park storage unit. It had been years since they had even been inside the storage unit and they were not even sure what was all in there. Greg was glad to give up his weekend to be able to help his grandparents accomplish this.

He was surprised by the amount of stuff that they had in their Lakeview Park self storage unit. When he opened the door he was met with boxes of stuff. They started in the front going through the boxes and searching through all of the treasures that were stored away in there.

Greg was amazed by how much of his grandparents past was being hidden away in their Lakeview Park storage unit. He found pictures of them when they were young and pictures of his family that he had never seen before. There were some tools that his grandpa had stored in there that he had gotten from his dad and were in great condition still and were probably worth a lot of money. Greg was never going to sell them though but he was so amazed by all of the stuff that they found that day.

Greg and his grandparents spent all day going through boxes. It was taking a long time because they had to stop and look at all of the pictures and all of the stuff that was in there that at the end of the day they still had a long way to go. Greg was going to help them the next day and assured them that he would help them until they had gone through all of the boxes. To Greg it seemed that he was more excited about all of the stuff that they were finding more so than his grandparents but most of the stuff he had never seen before and he was loving the family history that he was able to find.

It took then two and a half weekends to sort through everything. They reorganized all of the boxes and labeled them with the contents. Greg had a whole pile of stuff that his grandparents had let him take and he was so amazed by how much stuff he never knew that his grandparents had. Now that they were done cleaning out the self storage unit he was going to help his grandparents put away all of the stuff that they had wanted to take back to their home.

  • Using Storage to Organize Your Home
    By jeff on March 7, 2011 | 974 Comments974 Comments Comments

There are a few benefits to living in a smaller apartment or studio space. Often rent is cheaper than other multi bedroom apartments in the same complex and the smaller spaces can be comfy cozy. However, if you don’t maximize the space and create clean and well organizes spaces it can quickly become overcome with clutter and messes. Here are a few ways that adding an Innisfil, Ontario self storage unit can help you to maintain your studio space.

    • One of the most used spaces in an apartment or studio is the living room. This is where you not only relax and take it easy after a hard day of work, but you entertain friends there as well. You want to maximize the living room space so that you can get seating for you and your guests as well as things like you television and components and any additional furniture like coffee tables or end tables. One way to maximize space is to choose furniture that can give you storage space for your living room. Coffee tables that have drawers for storage can help you keep the space clean and organized. If however you find that your living room just needs more space then add a Innisfil self storage unit to help you maintain and maximize your spaces.
    • If you live in a studio space or even a one bedroom apartment often you will find yourself with a small space in which to make your bedroom. Many studio space renters look to a hideaway bed or some even use couches with pull out beds in order to save space. Whichever type of bedroom that you have it can be difficult to find spaces to hold your clothes. A great way to save space for your wardrobe is by utilizing an Innisfil storage unit. You can keep your weather appropriate clothes in your apartment and keep you out of season items in your self storage unit. For example in the winter you typically do not need shorts and swimming suits. These items can be out of your way and leave you with an organized closet by keeping them in storage.
    • Not only are smaller apartments and studio spaces sometimes short on clothes closets they are short on closet and any type of storage space at all. If you are considering becoming a renter of one of these types of spaces just think of everything that you have in your bedroom closet and hallway closets right now and try to figure out where all of that stuff can be put away at if you do not have closet space available. To help you offset the lack of closets and general storage spaces then consider how adding an Innisfil self storage unit can give you the additional spaces that you need.

Life in studio and smaller apartments can be great. You just have to make sure that you keep them well organized and clutter free or you can begin to feel overwhelmed by your stuff and can feel that you have no space to move around. If you are looking into renting these types of living spaces keep in mind that you may also want to check out the self storage facilities in the area as well when making your decisions.

  • Create Better Home Flow with Storage
    By jeff on February 18, 2011 | 937 Comments937 Comments Comments

Planning a wedding and planning a move is not the easiest task to undertake but Macy was excited even while she was overwhelmed. Between looking at houses with her fiancé and looking at dresses with her mother it seemed that there was not one day that she did not have a meeting with some vendor or realtor or having to make a decision about something. Her calendar was her constant companion during this time.

While there were still so many decisions to be made about the wedding and she was still searching for the wedding dress that was ‘the one’ they had found a house that was just what they were looking for. Their first house together was exactly what they wanted. It was a three bedroom two bath townhouse in a great neighborhood that was close to some of their favorite shops and restaurants and as there were both about to find out it was also located near a great Elizabeth Gardens, Ontario self storage unit.

So while she still had to nail down details about the wedding she was done house hunting and now instead of pounding the pavement looking for a house she could box and pack and label boxes to head over to their new home. It was a little more time consuming but it was something that her friends could at least help her with. After all isn’t that what bridesmaids are for?

When both Macy’s apartment and her fiancés apartments cleared out and cleaned up they could work on unpacking and putting together their new house. Who knew that it would be such a difficult undertaking getting the two apartments into one house? Macy was beginning to realize that they also had a lot of stuff. She was not sure where it had all come from but there just seemed to be boxes of stuff that needed to find a place to go and boxes of doubles of stuff that they had two sets of.

When they saw the nearby Elizabeth Gardens self storage facility Macy thought that that was the answer to their problems. They could move all of the boxes of odds and ends out of the home office space and into a storage unit. They could get the extra furniture out of the guest bedroom and for the time being they could just concentrate on finishing the wedding plans.

After the wedding was over and the honeymoon was past and life began to return to a normal pace once again they could decide if they wanted to sell some stuff off or perhaps even continue renting their Elizabeth Gardens storage unit. For now they would use the space as a temporary solution and have the majority of their unpacking compete and their house put together.

It can sometimes be difficult adjusting and making two lives fit together as one as Macy and her new husband found out but it is also some of the best times in life for a couple. Creating memories that will last for a life time and getting to enjoy the newly married honeymoon phase of a relationship. The rest was literally just stuff and it would work itself out and if not thanks to their self storage unit they had a place to keep it until then.

  • Self Storage Can Help You Sell Your Home Faster

Kate was trying to find a way to make her home more sellable. It had been on the market for six months now and she had a several people look at the house but so far there had not even been one offer. She had to do something different to make her house stand out from the other homes on the market.

Kate and her realtor took a walk though her house together and talked about some of the changes that she could make to help make her home more sellable. They talked about what buyers in the market were really looking for in a home her size. There were a few improvements that Kate could make on her own and the major one was to get her home clean and organized so that buyers could see the potential of the space and not just the clutter.

In between picking out neutral paint colors Kate managed to rent a Downsview, Ontario self storage unit. She went on a mad cleaning and organizing spree to clear out her house. Armed with a just stack of boxes, packing tape, a permanent marker, and some bubble wrap she went to town clearing out her house of everything that was absolutely not needed. She didn’t leave the spaces empty but she worked hard to stage the house as clean and streamlined.

Once the boxes and stuff was cleaned out and moved over to her Downsview self storage unit Kate got to work on painting the guest room a nice neutral color and cleaning out every nook and cranny that there was in her house.

Her realtor came by when Kate was all done with the sprucing up. She was shocked at what a big difference using the Downsview storage facility had made in really showing off the sizes of the rooms and making the house appear well maintained and organized. She even said that she was going to mention what a big difference it made to some of her other clients who were also in the process of staging their homes for sale.

Kate was going to have an open house this weekend and she was hoping that will all the changes that she had made to the house and with all of the cleaning that she had done that there was going to be a buyer out there who would see the great potential in her house.

There were several couples who came to the open house and now Kate just had to wait and see if anything would come of it. the one positive out of all of this was that she already had the majority of her packing done and all of the boxes were labeled and waiting in the Downsview storage unit for the sale to go through.

When Kate got the first offer she was excited about the possibility of having a buyer for the home. She remembered the couple who put in the offer and how much they really loved her house. The negotiations about price and closing costs went off with just a few back and fourths and in the end the deal was done. Kate had sold her house and she was ready to move on to bigger and better things. Now she just had to get started on packing up the rest of her stuff.

  • Dream Home Becomes Reality with Self Storage

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/selfblog/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787

Kent loved to work on his house. He was a first time home buyer and he loved his old ranch style house. The house was in the neighborhood that he had grown up in and he remembered when the house was in its prime. When he moved back to town after being away at college and after working several years he was surprised to see the house with a for sale sign. When he asked his realtor about the house being up on the market he assured him that he would not want the house. Kent insisted on seeing it though, and as soon as he saw the house he knew that it was just what he was looking for. He put in an offer and entered into negotiations.

Kent began to attend trade shows around the area and attend any home improvement fair that he could find in the area. He was going to restore the house to better than he remembered it being and bring back the character and charm that he house deserved. At one of the trade shows he was surprised to see a booth for a self storage company. It was not something that he had ever considered but he began to think of all of the possibilities that he could get by adding a Cundles, Ontario self storage unit to his home renovation project.

The day that he signed the contract to buy the house he also signed up for a Cundles self storage unit. He had already packed most of his stuff away so he got busy finishing his packing and taking the majority of his stuff to the Cundles storage unit. The only thing that he was taking to his new house was his bed, his tools, and his clothes. With all of the work and renovations waiting for him there was noting else that he needed.

Kent could not wait to begin the renovations, and all of the stuff that he learned from the trade shows and fairs were really going to help him get started. He started with the main floor that held the living room, the kitchen, a bathroom, and the dining room. It was the main floor of the house and needed a lot of attention since it had been the most used.

As the walls were painted, the cracks repaired, the floors sanded and everything put back together Kent knew that he had made the right decision in buying the house. It was turning out even better than he had expected.

Soon Kent was able to move onto the top floor where there were two guest bedrooms, a bathroom, and the master suite. These rooms seemed much easier to renovate. Maybe he was getting better at doing the home renovations, or maybe bedrooms were just easier than kitchens.

Last but not least was the basement. It was unfinished but Kent had grand plans for the space. The laundry area was going to be revamped, and the half bath was getting a complete overhaul. The rest of the unfinished space was getting turned into a TV room.

The renovations were complete and Kent was able to finally move all of his stuff from his Cundles self storage unit into his newly restored home. It was better than he had ever dreamed of.

  • Create a Change of Pace with Self Storage

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/selfblog/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787

Sometimes things happen in life that you can not control that shake up your entire life. It seems that nothing is the same and you are unsure of what your next steps will look like. There are some other times in life that you choose to shake up your life. You make decisions and choices that effect your present and change the course of your future. For Ellen it was a time of making choices that were going to shake up her own life.

Working everyday in a going no where job and living in a two bedroom apartment by herself was not something that Ellen wanted to continue. She wanted to make a change in her life. To make her future bigger and brighter than it was now. Even though she was getting ready to make a huge change in her life she was excited to be making it.

She cut back at her job to be a little less than full time and enrolled in the local university to begin accounting classes. She was going to go back to school and work really hard and make her life better than it had ever been. Ellen was going to make a bigger and better version of herself.

After her first year of college she was struggling financially but it was worth it. To help make ends meet Ellen decided to downsize her apartment from a two bedroom to a much more affordable and much smaller one bedroom. In between finals and study sessions Ellen locked down her new place and even managed to research an Etobicoke, Ontario self storage unit.

The Etobicoke self storage unit was affordable and still was more affordable than the rent that she was shelling out for her bigger apartment. She was not always going to be juggling work and school full time, and when she found a better job after graduation she was going to be able to afford a larger apartment once more.

When she was able to afford a larger apartment once more she was going to want all of the furniture and stuff that she currently had no room for. Her Etobicoke self storage unit gave her the room for her to hold on to all of her stuff for the time being.

While it took her longer than the typical four year college student and it was a hard adjustment going back to school at age twenty seven she managed to finish her degree in just over six years. It was a long and difficult six years but at the end of it Ellen was able to leave her dead end job for a great paying entry level accounting position at a major firm.

She continued to live in her tiny apartment for six more months. After living there for six years it was nothing to continue for a few months and she was able to save up some money. She moved into a bigger apartment at the end of that time and she was glad that she had been able to hold onto all of her stuff that she had stored away in her Etobicoke self storage unit. Her future was looking better than ever and she was glad that she had taken the opportunity to shake up her life.

  • Moving to Montreal is Made Easier with a Storage Unit
    By jeff on January 26, 2011 | 1,225 Comments1,225 Comments Comments

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/selfblog/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787

Montreal storage places in Quebec, Canada have seen a surge in their business.  When we think of Montreal, we think of hockey.  Most hockey fans around the world know who the Montreal Canadians are.  They have won a lot of Stanley Cups, I think over twenty of them.  The stars of their hockey teams are a who’s who of hockey stars.  They have had some of the best goalies of all times on their teams and some are considered the very best of all time.  We saw a show about best goalies of all time and the show named Ken Dryden the best goalie of all time.  I do not know if I agree with that or not, because I was born a Black Hawk fan and we saw old Ken beat us too may times.  True hockey fans may say Bobby Orr was one of the greatest hockey players of all time and Canadians might go with Gordie Howe or the Rocket.  Yes, I am leaving out the Great One himself, but I do not know.  Gordie Howe was a goal scorer, an assist man, a great fighter, and a very strong skater.  He played so long and kept his skill level up pretty much.  He had at least three sons who played too.  All made the NHL.  One made the all-star team a few times too.  We met Gordie in Houston, Texas once in a store.

Houston is hot, Montreal is not.  Montreal storage places are probably heated too inside.  No one wants to be cold all the time whoever they may be.  No one wants his or her stuff to be cold all the time too.  We used to work as storage managers a long time ago and when I go to my own storage space and look around, you think of things to kill time.  I find it boring to go to storage because I am always looking for something I can not find.  It figures eh?  Montreal storage spaces and the people in Quebec, who use them, probably go through the same things as I do.  We share a lot of stuff don’t we as fellow human beings.  In the United States of America, we also use storage spaces, probably way too much.  We could get rid of some stuff, but we do not.  You never know when you might need something right?  That is my story and I am sticking to it.  These are reasons to keep storage, not excuses.  How much stuff do we need anyway?  I guess we need all the stuff we have as the saying goes.

We heard Montreal is a great city to live in, even though their hockey team has beaten us too much in the past.  It is all in good fun though, as all sports should be, but let me tell you, it can be heated some times too.  Parents go nuts in America cheering their kids on.  Settle down everybody.  It is only a game right?  No?  Sports people make such big money now, and parents who think their kids will become this, well, they cheer a lot.  Very few will make it though.  Montreal storage spaces will contain lost dreams of hockey sticks and skates.  So will American storage places too.  Good luck.
